Remember that the ranking is not just based on general reader popularity (HP survey) but also in conjunction with the collaborators and monitor groups (should be no change from 2012 methodology if I'm not mistaken).

Okay, so the HP is referring to the public votes, and the numbers makes sense- But what are the two subsequent numbers after that? First of which Index scored miserably, while the second was high enough to almost catch up to SAO's total?

Index gone crazy on NT 4 but still need improvement. It still lacking something if you ask me. One of its problem is trying to please some fans that it seems off to me.

If it's inevitable that SAO is going to win again, I would at least hope for Kamijou to punch out Kirito for #1.

I mean sure, Kirito has his wife and all these fancy character development- But Kamijou has far more memorable epic fail moments !

I haven't heard anything from Ben-to after the anime died so I'm not sure on what's happening. Durarara would be a good contender with the latest volume but still felt weak.

SAO will dominate number 1 for sure but that's all there is to it.

Mahouka still needs more popularity to be at top 3 so I will face the reality but still if Mahouka gets an anime. I will do explosion on its sale. I hope sunrise/studio 8 do it.

Haganai would still be clinging at its top with another season announced (if I remember it right. Not really much of a fan of the work)

1. I am still trying to comprehend her appeal... by research. Some of my findings seem to point towards screentime, so I wonder if any other female besides Mikoto and Index gain the most spotlight (and the first girl we get to know in the series apart from those two) will there be a change...

2. Who you ask? Why, those people who thought it'd be better to appeal more towards those who like such things. Kamikoto is getting too dominating so there ought to be more ship-to-ship combat! After all, more cute girls beside Kamijou = more marketing boost!!! .... (on a serious note, I do have problems with the common consumer mentalities, else I'd stay being a retail assistant rather than pursuing a degree)

3. If this was a time where male main characters make most of the big boom in the industry... actually, scratch that. Kamijou will still be in a tight spot.

4. ... I'm getting really itchy to call the hypothesis that adaptation anime has a very great impact on how people perceive the source material... the less impression it makes, the more likely people aren't going to bother with the source material...

5. Tatsuya's appeal... as sad as I want to deny I ever typed this very sentence... will be his series' own "stay away" factor for some.
