Kanon(2006) is not a sequel, it is a remake; so yes, the anime can be viewed( and indeed preferably so) without having seen the Toei version( in order to maintain the element of surprise).

Hmmm....well I'm always being told that Kanon is a good series so I guess this remake is perfect timing for me to get into it......I used to have a bias against anime adapted from these kind of games (though after watching things like KGNE I realized it's not always the case), so I'm keeping an open mind here as well.

While you're at it, give AIR a go. If you get the TV series, don't forget to get the summer special (two episodes in length). There's also a motion picture, though it tells the storry a bit differently.

KimiNozo was definitely a good show as well. Let's hope Funi doesn't hose it.

OMG! The series hasn't even started yet and this thread has got over 650 posts already and avatars too. I'll better keep an eye on it then.

Does anyone know whether the story is going to be any different, even if a little bit?

I've actually seen AIR already. It didn't affect me as much as KGNE, but I thought it was similar in that it was a well constructed story. Though I didn't know about the summer special, I'll go watch those.'

Though I'm kinda ticked off that this thread has almost gotten as large as the H&CII thread, before the series has even begun.....

With half the posts being (more or less) flaming between Ayu and Nayuki fans Don't be too proud about the post numbers

Hey, be loud and proud Ayu and Nayuki fans!

Besides, if we had our own forum we could have answered questions like...

"Do I need to see Kanon to understand Kanon 2006?"

"Is this a remake or an original program?"

once and not have to keep answering it over and over....

And one thread wouldn't be close to 700 posts.

(There's also an image thread, a game discussion thread, a comparison between game and anime thread, merchandise thread....) Hint, Hint.

Thanks catgirls! I'll be snatching the Nayuki one.

Now just have to wait till someone starts posting some freebie siggies. Don't really care who/what it looks like, just as long as its Kanon related. ^^

when you said that, it sounded like kanon will have it's own section.

@ zalas

That video has completely made my week. Very, very well done indeed. It's given me yet another piece of Kanon-related video to compulsively watch until the fifth of October. Even if KyoAni don't do it themselves, at least we can say that Kanon has had a kind of Haruhi kameo. ^^

Here is my picture of the Moriguchi bench. I was there this summer and had to go and track it downa nd drag my friend. Better shots are in the video footage which she is too lazy to give me. One day I will have it one day...BTW it was raining on that day >.<

*my first post in this thread *

Having never watched the 2002 original by Toei, I'm really looking forward to the Kanon story, the Kanon Remake. I'll probably ask later after the series starts whether or not I should go back and watch the original version as well.

+ So it takes 700 posts to have it's own personal section?
