No, it was the way he phrased it. He says "Well, he's kinda like me (Same habits) and he's not that good with girls (also true). He's really shy and thought that saying through a friend would be easier." Note that this is remarkably similar to the "I have this friend" excuse people often use when its their own problem.

So I read Blade Dance because I'm bored.

And thoroughly annoyed, since it goes to the cliched route of (literal) "Whipped guy" just because it sounds funny.

Well, that and be actually takes charge in a lot of fights. Read the fight scenes if you don't believe me.

Why so? Besides, he can't piss off his teammates. He needs them for the Blade Dance. Notice he that he didn't treat blondie that well till she became a potential teammate. He's also constantly snarky on Grayworth.

Once again, I'm not disappointed with him as character. I'm disappointed with cliched route, as said above.

Switch topic: should I introduce Kanzashi first or go with Tatenashi? I plan to introduce everyone very early, and that should be accomplished by Gospel arc. After that, everything is different.

It's a matter of perception. You know girls rubbing each other breast? Common sense says overboard joke. Fanboy say YAY YURI TIME!

They look to deep into anything that could be interpreted as hints, which is okay, but when they forced people to believe it, it irked me.

Well, I'm not exactly a yuri fanboy so beats me. Box might have something about that...

If I had to discern, they likened it to "a kohai visiting her beloved senpai since she felt indebted about her injury". While not necessary, senpai-kohai relationship is a major part of Yuri genre cliche, so there.
