I had thought Yura wasn't going to buy a ticket in the Rikuo sweepstakes, but after her reactions this week I'm seriously thinking I was wrong.

Considering how badly paced the first season was seeing the snappy pacing of the second is a relief. And yeah it's also a necessity if they''re going to fit the entire Kyoto Arc into this season.

Claymore's first 20 episodes animated at a similar pace to this and no one complained about it being fast. Personally this would be the ideal speed for shounen but they obviously can't do that since they are generally long running series and they have to buy time.

Please don't remind me of the Claymore anime, I'm still really bitter about the Original Ending that ruined a great series.

Claymore's horrible ending doesn't change that the first 20 episodes were an ideal adaption. And yeah that ending blew.. I got sick of arguing with the ANN reviewer about why a continuation from that point is impossible.

the only way is to do it like FMA, remake...

ANN reviewers are not the most awesome reviewers IMHO. Especially those who try to review the plot from just the first episode.

The kyoto arc would easily fit into 24/26 episodes. I just hope that is the plan.

Wow Yura's brother is a tough guy to go up against that's for sure. No doubts about painting all youkai with the same brush and attacking anyone who gets in his way. "Only I am allowed to deceive Yura" that's some sibling love right there .

But really not an easy guy to go up against and suspect it won't be a simple fight for Rikuo either. Though at least he's not going to actually listen to that guy when it comes to where the attack is coming from.

The music for the fights is sounding pretty good so far. Looking forward to the next episode.

So was Mimaru being controlled by Yura's brother? He seems more than a human when he was fighting. So Rikuo's sword is an onmyoji sword, makes sense since he protects humans. Yura's reactions to the news was great and that blush later on. No wonder Rikuo hasn't heard of that name since grandpa hasn't heard of it in 400 years! Badass grandpa is always a nice treat. Yuki-onna looked even hotter and Aotabo had a beard and black hair, never would have guessed.

Unrelated question: I thought that whoever was in grandpa's night parade couldn't be in Rikuo's so why are Yuki-Onna and Aotabo in Rikuo's growing parade. Is it just because they were his bodyguards since he was a kid?

Don't assume they are the same Yuki-onna and Aotabo.

A great episode. Gotta love Ryuuji's trolling: you can see he reads Shounen Manga and that he thinks those guys are ridiculous when they reveal truth about their techniques to the enemy :P
And here we now have Nurarihyon's flashback... time to shop people who Grampa is.

That Yuki Onna is not Tsurara. Notice different pattern on the kimono (Tsurara has rectangles while this one has butterflies) and the different eye color.

Spoiler for Minor spoiler: Name and her relation to Tsurara:

The Aotabou-like guy... okay, who the hell is he?

Ah that would make sense then. Thanks for clearing that up

Maybe it's just me but for some reason the music used in this season just feels, odd, like it's too calm most of the time and then the battle pieces seem way to short. And I keep wincing during the battle scenes, I've gotten so used to seeing action series by bigger studios that seeing all the freeze frames in the middle of a fight just looks cheap to me these days (and that's a bad thing since this is an action anime!).

Seconding, it's been a while since I read the manga but that one really confused me.

Is it strange if I say I prefer Rihan and young Nurarihyon much more than Jun's Rikuo especially after seeing their animated forms?

Which Aotabo-like guy - the one in the flashback at the end of the ep?
