I'm like, just getting out of a phase where all i listened to was hip-hop.
Tyler's pretty sick, and i dig what OF is doing but the only other bit of them I really like is MellowHype, and a few Earl songs. Childish Gambino is awesome, and then there's the big names like Kanye, and Lupe. WHY? is really awesome and kinda experimental. and then there's old school like Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Wu-Tang and Jay-Z that's always good.

eLZhi's tribute album Elmatic is sick + free.
I haven't been listening to hip-hop much lately, but eLZhi has made his place as my favorite rapper. Most of the hip-hop coming out of Detroit, besides Eminem, is awesome. Dilla Guilty Simpson Elzhi / Slum Village Black Milk - favorite producer at the moment Phat Kat Danny Brown - check out his album The Hybrid |

Rap and hip-hop will always be one of the more obscure and less-liked parts of my music collection which now contains some 18,000-odd songs. I've found my tastes are typically lurking around most of the older and semi-older pieces like artists such as: Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Ice-T, LL Cool J, Everlast, Kool & The Gang, DMX, Busta Rhymes, etc.
Beyond that, I also listen to (and some of these may or may not be considered 'rap' by you): Spoiler for My 'selective' rap:
Most of those artists, some of which I detailed on, are only a few songs (2-3, upwards to 10) big as far as collection size goes. Friend of mine recommend Tech N9ne, whom I've only heard once off the Midnight Club: LA soundtrack. Thinking about pursuing it, but this collection is definitely smaller than my Rock portion, and more so my J-Pop portion. Suprised I haven't seen much mention of J-Rap in here though, or K-Rap. Heh.

Don't like Danny Brown all that much though. Guilty Simpson is decent, but his better songs were with Jaylib production. No Cannibal Ox? I say this because you seem to be a general fan of the late Definitive Jux. |

I haven't enjoyed an Ox album since 'The Cold Vein', to be honest. He hasn't been terrible since that release, but he's been fairly mediocre considering how good that album was. I expected so much more out of him throughout the years, but he hasn't been able to reach that level of quality since.

Cannibal Ox is a duo and 'The Cold Vein' is their only official album.
I assume you are talking about Vast Aire, the big guy? I can agree with that, him and Vordul Mega need each other to sound good, apparently. El-P beats helped, too. |

I'm not sure if anyone knows about Akomplice Clothing, but I went to their site recently and really liked the intro instrumental. I contacted them, and while the guy who responded didn't know the name of the song, he said he was pretty sure it was a Wu-Tang track. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify it.
Here's a link to the site(click on the photo to start the intro): Link
