Fairy Tail Anime Episode Discussion Thread [Episode 165 and Onward]

Tough to say things when I've read the manga, but I found the episode fairly decent. It needed to be exposition, but there's plenty of action coming up, so I can deal. I do have to admit the Blue Pegasus act wasn't as entertaining as in the manga (either delivery wasn't up to to par, or just reading it was better than watching).

I am going to hate the Ichiya guy, though.

And for some reason the villains are all in mystery darkness even though they are all splashed over the opening. And if the goth girl from the opening is actually a man which her snores suggest this will be the 7th group of antagonists with only one woman. (Excluding masked man because we didn't know that she was Ultear at the time.)

They're probably doing it that way because they were still shadowed in the manga at that particular scene. And yeah, the sleeping member is a guy.

Well a slow episode, but they did have to set things up and introduce the different groups. Going to be impressed if the Blue Pegasus guys can actually do something useful other than creep out Erza. I'm sure their master wouldn't send useless people, but they aren't making a great impression.

Well can't blame anyone in the room who thinks Caitshelter isn't taking this seriously just sending a loli in. Of course that can be pretty amazing firepower in some cases . Still they must be pretty short staffed if they could only spare one person for this.

Lucy and Erza looked good as waitresses, Yajima looked happy as a cook, but whose gonna stick up for fairy tail on the council, i guess it's gonna be a totally different council though, i like how Grimore Heart's guild is a ship that's unique, i'm speculating here but it looked like Hades is maybe Laxu's father, i wonder what Oracion Seis is looking for, i mean they said Nirvana but it is like a weapon like the 2 Zeref artifacts in the past?, Blue Pegasus' guys were all weird but funny, that Ichiya guy took the cake, but i think i'm not gonna like him, its interesting to see the reappearerence of Lyon and Shelly, seems like they took Gray's advice, i can't wait to see Jura in action since he's one of the 10 Saint, i wonder what Caitshellter is thinking sending only 1 person, i dont know if Wendy is strong yet, but i guess she could be, and from the ed i think she's tied to Mystogan maybe, a slow but funny ep, next week the real battle starts and prper introduction of Oracion Seis

Some people say this episode was a bit weak... guess you could say that. But hey, we got to see waitress Elza!!! That should more than make up for it.

Episode 51 was great, some more focus on Lucy again, can't say her father didn't deserve at least a bit of what happened. It's still shocking to see. Lucy really has come a quite a long way, since joining, she took all those guys on, even if they weren't all that strong, by herself.

Do you think Ichiya use complete hypnosis on those three to make them his followers.
And why do you guys only mention Lucy and Erza when the real hottie in this episode was Shelly.

WTF, Ichiya's VA is over the top xD Fitting themes for the Blue Pegasus, maybe the trimen took a bit more screentime than necessary though. Overall a good episode, lots of comedy and some action...the story didn't take more than one step, but that's natural, with all the character introductions and everything.
I second Wendy's voice being kinda annoying, hopefully I'll get used to it.

EDIT: Looks like Happy can't eat more than 51 fish, although the new eyecatch isn't bad either. Also, subtle reference to Ruby at the beginning of the episode for those who caught it.

I think it was because it seems to happen a lot faster in the manga. Speed's been a glaring weakness in the Fairy Tail anime since the beginning, lots of stills and slow animation pulls the speed out of things, and in this episode it was more noticeable than others.

Dude, what I said isn't spoiling since it is obvious that the main point of any series that has a hero and a main villain, is that eventually the hero will defeat the villain,

You don't have to read the manga to know that.DUH!!

Pacing is on a bit of the slow side for episode 52, though it's totally understandable seeing how close the adaptation is from the manga. I mean if it kept at the pace the first 46 or so episodes were on, we'd catch up in no time.

With that said, it was an enjoyable episode, and a could start to the new arc. I can't even begin to say how please i am that Hayami Show is voicing Ichiya. That is quite possible the number 1 perfect match that has ever happened in a manga to anime adaptation.

that's quite a good choice of Ichiya's VA. If I hadn't read the manga, I would have expected someone tall and handsome like the three Blue Pegasus guys. Instead, we've a short, fat guy who has a blocky face and a big nose! Erza's reaction is hilarious. So there are things that she can't handle after all.

As Lucy put it "What is this silky smooth voice?!"

I never really cared much for Ichiya in the manga, didn't really hate him or anything but never thought much about his character, was a little amusing at times tho.
I never gave much hought to his character in the anime as well but when I heard Hayamai Show as his VA it put a smile on my face. I didn't expect that.
There are times a character becomes a whole lot more entertaining in anime than manga and I think Ichiya would be one fo them times.

Also the bit with Erza as a waitress was gold, another bit that is better in it's animated form

And is it me or was Ultear just down right sexy here, I can't quite remember that part so well but damn

looking forward to to this arc, got some great moments.
