I'm gonna start reading the manga from the start, though could someone tell me where the anime is upto in the manga at the moment?

Well, 69 is the latest out - read it on mangahelpers. Mio isn't in deep shit. not quite yet.

... is that around Chapter 65, Mio stepped over a line she really should have at least thought twice over before stepping on. Everything before that - failure to immediately Return to Base, even following Cruz around, can probably be excused with a little fast talking. After all, Cruz is looking for Adam Blade if he's alive, and let's face it that's like Arclight's Priority One right now, so Mio being right next to him (and thus right next to Blade when he gets discovered) can probably be worked out. In any case, the Shoujo Butai really tolerates quite a bit of youthful exuberance and error.

But at Chapter 65, Mio just agreed to attack a fairly high official of Simeon and to defend a ridiculous little village that Simeon wants (that's not exactly it but close enough). Considering right up until then, she's probably living some of the best life available to a Black Spot inhabitant, this is really not her brightest move.

And now I'm already starting to worry about her. The ending in 69 tells us to worry about Cruz, but we all know Cruz is not going to die. Even Adam Blade might die (probably taking down Arclight with him) but let's face it Cruz isn't in any real danger.

With this setup, since Mio is not powerful enough to handle those two baddies now chasing the group around, and she as a subcharacter won't have the infamous main character shields, she's actually a prime candidate for dying. In a fairly bloody manner, given this manga.

And all because she agreed too easily to Cruz request. Cruz, we know she's impressionable but think of her tachiba before asking, dammit!

Oh, I think we are around the end of Book 3 right now, just before the breakin and 4 books (4, 5, 6, 7) of continuous fighting.

Just a quick question on the Loli Trio. On the forum for the anime part of this series, there was an episode to where they were not getting along with two others in their organization and that there was a contest the ensued in which the two were humiliated at the end. But then there was some mention that the two girls met with a grimmer end that what was dipicted in the anime. If this happens in the manga, can someone tell me the volume or chapter that the event happens?

Looks like the manga doesn't kid around... the transition in the anime did feel strange though. They were certainly full of killing intent and then all they did was strip them.

where did you see this in the anime but to answer your question in the manga

he fell, because of disk's driving, into the school where girls are trained to be killer girls. Since he was in an alliance with Mio, which they knew because he had her panties, the other two hid him by dressing him up as a girl untill they could get him out of there. But they threw out his clothes so for now hes stuck as "girl Yamada" a licenced killer girl.

The entire vol 9 is like a detective story with Yamada-ko chan playing Kindaichi role. It might put a lot of action lovers off seeing how combat intensive vol 4-8 were. Perhaps the author wants to try a different gene for once?

Glad the combat actions came back in vol 10 chapters.

yeah the latest story arc does resemble some kind of typical RPG story whereby protagonist goes around doing tasks for people and collecting different items to achieve a certain goal, reuniting/making new allies along the way and ultimately go after the big bad guy and his goons to save the world.

I watched the latest "Bloody Rain Arc" chapters and surprisingly the characters from vol 0 made appearance in it (The little girl with glasses and her 2 goons). Seems that the author is trying to make a tie-in to vol 0 and making it canon rather than an independent story. Could this mean the Adam girl from the first 2 chapters of vol 0 had connection to the main story? (the event happened in 2132, 2 years after the main story)

Her name is Adam Neuschwanstein, has same hair colour as Adam Blade, crystal on her forehead, long hair, with trouble remembering people's names and also possesses the "Zero" ability. coincidence? Even the principle from the killer girls academy made appearance.

BTW, somebody seems to have updated the wiki page of Needless and contain highly spoilerish info. Avoid there if you do not want to be spoiled too much

Adam Blade was gentle child when he was made. He was "PERFECT" while Adam Arclight was a failure that refuse to just die. The girl on manga 0 probably is the one that gave the Zero ability to Blade and possible later on developed to become a lolicon, because of that girl.

Oh, how I hate this reading mode (first in life) ... waiting for a whole month for the next chapter!

For future development, this is very often the time when the main character (read: Cruz) suddenly gains a fragment. But I hope that the author doesn't tread down this very worn path.

arkhangelsk i dont think its good to assume the worst even if they are within an inch of their lifes. Remember, everyone got a huge hole in there chest during the controlled Eve fight, but were just fine a few chapters later, the needless fights are stupidly brutal.

As for a fragment for Cruz its a tricky issue. On one hand its give a stronger statement if he suceeds without power, chapter 54 was gold. But on the other hand its unrealistic that he could stand against any of the main guys, who kill hundreds of normal people in seconds, without power. Its a tricky story telling issue that writers have to deal with.

Also i hate to say it but there is some evidence to suggest that Cruz has a fragment allready. Have you read the first chapter of volume 0 where the character most like Cruz had the power to freeze people? Well volume 6, Aruka tries to kill Cruz but stops completely at the last second. I cant read Japanese so at first I thought it might have been because of sentiment, but maybe he stopped her without knowing it.

Also speaking of worn out anime cliches, i think that it might turn out that Saten is Cruz and Aruka's father. He seems to know alot about both of them, kept close to Aruka, and let Eve heal Cruz. And lets face it, the bandages give him a Darth Vader masked man quality seen in alot of these situations.

I agree with you though waiting a month to read thirty pages is so annoying.

That's the sacrifice we need to take since the anime and manga is good. We don't follow anything that isn't a good read anyways. I'll be waiting for the batch torrent on the scanlated manga parts.

As for now Cruz is doing the Celes bit FF6 where he's finding his friends. Maybe too much like Celes, since Sabin/Mash is a strong guy like Mio, the difference only is that Celes can use magic and Cruz can't. He's only defense is cross dressing!
