The anime is obviously trying to get to chapter 15. Based on the preview, they're going to adapt chapters 12 and 14 next episode and skip 13. And then episode 9 was part of 16 and all of chapter 17, which leaves 8 chapters. The manga itself is bimonthly (aka 6 chapters max per year) and at 30ish pages per chapter, it takes about 2 chapters to make content for a whole episode unless they stretch it out or keep adding in flashbacks.

A: No. You're watching all the best parts of the story. It really loses steam after this arc (imho, of course).

I hope they go for an original end to the anime (or an 'off into the sunset' is fine too).

Another interesting episode, and a calm one before another storm of big events to happen comes in.

Returning to a comfortable lifestyle like they used to lead before the hell on Earth broke loose, surely would affect Komuro's group fitness in terms of survival experience, endurance, and self-sufficiency.

Spoiler: What's worse is that Hirano resents it the most, because it would spell on him to go back as just the freak-otaku passerby, isolated and friendless. His knowledge and practical skills about guns earned quickly a permanent and reliable position among Komuro's group of survival fighters. So, for him staying at the attained structure of peace and stability established by Soichirou Takagi is not an option but a jail at long-term. Besides, I can't recall perfectly how heated was the argument between Saeko and Hirano back in the manga, regarding the efficiency of strength power. East-Asian cultures believe that power comes through mastery of sheer willpower that breaks through any adversity. Many Western cultures, on the other hand, believe that power is attained or comes through acquiring a stronger power. I'm not trying to promote another and senseless debate regarding East vs. West. What I want to communicate is that Saeko and Hirano have different views regarding sources of power or strength, and, likewise, disagree. Spoiler: To make bad things going to worse, Shidou and his pseudo-Order returned at the end of this episode, marking a bad omen for the survivors stationed at the Takagi residence. And seems the anime skipped an event from the manga, which I won't spoil.
