Berserk is a dark medieval fantasy adventure series with a similar story structure as Gungrave and some of the plot elements are sort of similar although the original manga predates Gungrave by a decade and the story's ultimate outcome is different. The manga is worth reading and it fills in some of the blanks in the anime adaptation which is good despite some things not being well explained. If you're reading the original manga, be warned that it's rather NSFW, and the anime is considerably tones down the brutality and it's still pretty brutal as is.
