Syrian opposition blogger "Gay Girl in Damascus" turns out to be hoax.
Here's the blog. Turns out that an american guy named Tom Mcmaster in Edinburgh is the real "Amina Abdallah Arraf ". Used photos stolen from this woman who appeared on tv a few days back. Strange Strange Strange. This could have interesting consequences... |

It certainly gives them a "club" to claim all the "hooligans" are being motivated by outside enemy forces (the usual claim by authoritarian governments when confronted by their own citizens).
============= In what may be more appropriate to put in "News of the Silly", I watched a fair amount of the US Republican presidential hopeful discussion tonight. Lets just say "creating a narrative unconstrained by facts" came to mind frequently. I'd compare it to..... oh, saying Roosevelt was responsible for the results of the Hoover administration disaster (1929 meltdown and the after effects). Oh wait, they think we need MORE 1890s-type robber barony to fix the country. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13751433 ================== Now, YOU can speak Babylonian as they did thousands of years ago! Ancient Assyrian/Babylonian dictionary released after 90 years of analysis. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13715296

You can choose from "corporatist column A" or "corporatist column B"... either column means some group of transnational corporate overlords screw the peasants *cough* citizens around.
