Also, tangentially related, here is a video of some absolutely absurd mahjong play. (It appears to be a flaw in the randomizer program or manipulated score data at times.)
Thanks to that vid, I have been watching other Tenhou vids on Niconico.

The case is inverted for me. Yuri undertones enhance everything.
(Strike Witches? i'm so into learning history! Saki? i'm so into learning mahjong! )

but, hey, one man's hell is another man's heaven.

Third this.

Anyway for the Saki mahjong do we have to score +/- 0 to win the game.

Why I'm not surprised?
That's one killer loli, and absolutely cute that she can kill you from both her moe and intense glance.

GONZO, do not fail me at this shot, I want the same chilling feeling I got at that time.
Spoiler for It's a devil!!:

I also want the fanservice scenes in the manga makes it into the anime, although I feel like it's a given, lolz.

P.S: How often do you renew your "The Top 20 Most Asskicking, Crotch Stomping Badass Lolis" list?

GONZO'll probably censor it to drive up DVD sales, Strike Witches style.

Every day hour. There are far too many badass lolis... My current #1 is a tie between Biribiri from Index and that crazy girl with a BAR from Black Lagoon.

i completely adore this show. i'm a huge mahjong fiend and often play during family gettogethers. its a shame that japan bastardized the game by changing around the terminology..

but seriously, the last card draw at the end of the first ep was EPIC. lightning effects and everything.

plus Nodoka + white thighhighs = omgwtf

That's not really fair... EVERY country that imported mahjong bastardized the terminology... America, Europe...

In many ways Japan's terminology is actually closer to the Chinese than most, since although it is pronounced very differently, it is written almost the same.

That pretty much summed it up for me...I didn't have a damn clue what was going on in Shion even after watching it all, but that didn't really stop me from enjoying it a great deal.

I guess theirs something to say for just enjoying the atmosphere of competition thats universal to all sports and games whether you have the slightest clue the rules or not. In that respect Saki did a good job in creating such an atmosphere...

One random note though...How friggin big are our Pink Haired girls breasts supposed to be? I usually don't take note of such things but that side shot of her early on just made her character look so painfully unbalanced and mis proportioned for a young girl....ouch.

I feel sorry for Nodoka's back.

On a sidenote, 2ch has apparently discovered a flaw in GONZO's animation...
Via Sankaku (hence NSFW): Saki cheats?!

Maybe they didn't notice when they cope out that scene in the manga.

They are kinda exaggerating that part, really. As you can see in the manga:

Nevertheless, she's still cute, though. She's one of the very few big boobs girl that I like .

To be fair, the mahjong tiles are all outsourced to a 3rd part CG company for this show. Some place called Sanzigen. But Gonzo still should have caught the error.

Or 1:30 PM EST, Sunday, in the US.

Although saying that, it seems a bit odd, since wouldn't 1:30 PM EST be 1:30 AM in Tokyo time?

The current time difference is 14 hours from EST. So 2AM JST is 12PM EST.

I bet in the arcade game they just have Koromo totally and unfairly hacked up. Some of the arcade games I played would blatantly cheat and have the computer opponent declare Tsumo like 2-4 turns in almost every time.
