Since I seem to be the first person in this thread who's seen ep 4. I guess I'll try contributing a summary for those of you who are still waiting on the fansubs. My Japanese is not amazing, so this will be a little brief.

Spoiler:

The episode starts with Birdy enjoying a bath and her favorite huge with plenty of white rice specifically. While she's enjoying herself, Tsutomu decides to be a spoilsport and remark that isn't she too happy considering that Tute just died? She responds by throwing a punch at herself and transforming into Tsutomu right before the punch lands, which ends up knocking him out.

By the time he wakes up, he's zooming through space in Birdy's dolphin spaceship. Turns out permission has been granted for Birdy to send Tsutomu's body to their home planet (Altarria I guess) for fixing up. In the mean time, Hayamiya + green hair girl + two class mates are getting together for group study, but Tsutomu sends an email saying that he has a cold and can't come. Green hair girl invites them all over on Saturday for a party that her dad is hosting to celebrate her recent improvements in health. Hayamiya promises to tell Tsutomu about. In the meanwhile, Tsutomu continues to wonder what's going to happen to his daily life, and Birdy finally gets annoyed and shuts him up by asking him if he wants his daily life + exams or his body back.

After they arrive, the aliens grab Tsutomu's body and Birdy assures him that he'll get it back. Birdy ends up having to submit to a mandatory body checkup, especially since the medical people are interested in how she has two consciousnesses in her body. During the checkup, the two partially merge and Tsutomu ends up seeing Birdy's memories from when she was a child, while Birdy herself is unconscious.

Once the checkup is finished, they are shipped to meet with the chief inspector who explains the situation to Tsutomu. Lots of idle banter which I missed + Tsutomu asking for the definition of every other pronoun. Dog looking girl comes in bringing a special report, turns out Tsutomu and Birdy are in fact merging their consciousness, which is bad, but all the parameters are still green. Tsutomu is shocked to discover that if they do accidentally merge Birdy will disappear. Birdy doesn't mind though, because she feels that this is the least that she can do to make up for accidentally killing Tsutomu.

After that they meet Birdy's combat instructor, they spar a bit and head on to meet the council for judging some guy that Birdy caught and also to inquire on Birdy's conduct during the Earth mission. A brown lady appears, turns out she's a really famous inquisitor (missed all her crazy descriptions). She starts questioning Birdy, which Birdy gets increasingly frustrated answering each question. Basically she nails Birdy for being a loose canon and going without concern for collateral damage. She picks up on how Birdy's old nickname was Birdy The Beserker Killer and tries to nail her again for getting Tsutomu killed. Tsutomu however comes out at this point and explains that he doesn't mind being accidentally killed especially since it turned out alright and Birdy really is trying her best. Inquisitor lady switches gears, gives Tsutomu some visions about the nature of the Ryunka, and then nails Birdy again for not investigating it and having no clue what it was. Turns out the Ryunka is a weapon of mass destruction, a remanent from the past Imperial era capable of wiping out an entire planet. As the council is about to condemn Birdy, Tsutomu intervenes and says she's trying her best and they basically agree to send her back to Earth to look for the Ryunka.

The Chief Inspector assigns Birdy back to Earth to continue investigating but to keep the safety of Earthlings as priority #1. They ask her if she needs a replacement for Tute. She says no because she's a new Birdy inside, and she promised Tute. The Dog eared girl from earlier hands Birdy a cellphone sized blue device with two really gross tentacles sticking out of it. The device itself is what they managed to extract from Tute's remains, they say it'll come in handy, but don't actually explain what the new device does.

In the mean time, some villans (2 crazy people in suits that I've never seen before) from earth are also plotting to find the Ryunka that Geega was experimenting with and having some "quality time" with the Ryunka.

After the inquisition, Birdy goes to a ghetto'ish neighborhood where she grew up and tells Tsutomu about the different places she enjoyed when she was a kid. Some police cars drive by and one of them suddenly explodes knocking out the other cars. One kid is caught in the explosion and Birdy tries to tell the kid to hang in there as the episode ends.

Wow that was a lot of work and it was a pretty brief summary at that. I'm starting to understand what Omni and Divine at random curiousity go through. I hope that helps someone out there. O and if anyone who actually understood the raw could tell me if my summary is accurate, it would be great

Does anyone know whether any other fansubgroup is/has been interested in subbing Birdy? Since the translator of the only group subbing it (I-Z) has currently moved to japan and has no time...

Well may just have to wait for the I-Z individual to complete the move to Japan in the worse case. Know that Tadashi&Wyvern released one for the first episode though I'm sure personal time constraints limit how much anime they can handle.

Oh well will just focus on being worked into the ground

. Whenever episodes come out will be all over it.

Yea it really sucks that this series isn't getting any exposure from the community because of lack of fansubs

. This is one of the series I've most enjoyed in a while, and I can't even share it with my friends who aren't literate with Japanese.

I guess summaries only go so far in holding onto people's interest. Hope I-Z gets it sorted out soon.

I agree the seres really is not getting the exposure that a lot of us feels it deserves. I know I think its one of the better series out this season and the fact that its remake of one my favorite originals just adds to the excitement. Im looking forward to buying the DVDs and putting them right next to the originals. I think the major problem i have had with anime over the past 2 1/2 years is not the animation or genre's but really the writing. Its very rare that i get impressed anymore with scripts in anime but Birdy always appealed to me and the 2008 remake keeps that level for me.

Be patient remember the subbers are doing this on their own time. They will get around to it when they can they may be delayed because of personal issues in their own life. At worst you wait a little longer and get a double sub episode.

The summaries and the subs are done by volunteers, the last thing you should be doing is speaking as if they should always be there.

Some anime bloggers are blogging Birdy I think, and if you wanted a summary for Ep4 you can sort of read the one that I wrote.

I feel that this series is so excellent with a superb heroine, but it has no discussion. But even still for the first 2 subbed episodes not that much talk was generated. I have heard no one talk of this series online... (not that I looked). I was in japan this spring and picked up a magazine that had a color layout for birdy, thats the only reason I'm watching... But others, unless they watched the old ova, they have no idea how awesome this is. I wonder what everybody is watching anyways... not birdy, not world destruction, I guess they are watching haruka's secret... Anyways, more people should be enjoying this awesome-tacular show, but thats just my opinion.

Oh I just learned the reason that no subs were coming out was because the translator was busy. I thought it was licensed or something. I was half way thru darker than black, when that happened last time....

I am beginning to miss the action seen in the first 2, 3 episodes. Now even the story seems to be lacking.

Hmm...I thought it was just me that was feeling that way, but I couldn't tell because no one had been saying anything about the show lately.

I thought the story would get more involving...

I just had to do that A rather boring episode compared to the previous 3 with too much talk, blah blah. Senkawa is just as aroduc described and then some. He is one of the most annoying, immature prick I've see to date with offense intended. The nerve of him to use the name of Birdy's dead partner like that at the start of the episode, doesn't he have a heart? or is it that he can't remember how much Birdy was crying in the previous episode which showed any indication that she was glad that Tute isn't here anymore? The the whole scenes where he was just spamming childish questions...just shut up and look, you will find out the answer for yourself soon enough. I can't believe Birdy hasn't gone insane yet with this guy in her constantly nagging for explanations. FlareKnight User of the "Fast Draw" Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Canada	Spoiler for Ep3: Yeah am a few weeks back on this response. Poor Tute Really a great guy with a lot of heart. You should have expected something considering the close calls he had in the first two episodes. Sadly this time he took a hit too close and didn't make it. May have been a robot, but you can't replace someone you've built such a close bond to. Really a painful loss for Birdy. Bad news as well with the possibility of her fading away. If they can't work things out inside the head it will be the end of her. She already felt that was alright since she did end up killing the guy. Now on top of it losing Tute might make her think there isn't much to be sticking around for. Geeze that Senkawa can be pretty annoying. People killed in police/criminal crossfire don't get to stand up again. Yet thanks to being inside of Birdy he gets to stick around and continue living his all important life. Should be more flexible on the whole thing. Well that's the end of the criminal duo. Though clearly there is a lot more to be dealt with. Lot of things going on here. I'm starting to feel disappointed with this series. I hope it picks up shortly.
