Her other friends already had a couple chapters centered around them, so I guess it was obligatory in a way. This manga tends to shift focus on different characters from time to time anyways.

I love the softcore implication that deep down Keiko might have a thing for Inari but hasn't realized it yet (and probably never will).

I say that that author seems to be building up the ending, the 2 pairings that we see the most seems to be totally reciprocated already, and with the possibility that Inari and Uka might or might not get permanently stuck in heaven working builds the necessary dorama for the guys to play hero, rescue the girls and then get their happy ending.

Even Suminoe seems to be getting some drama heading her way.

Whoa, I wouldn't be surprised if this was going to wrap up soon. Things are getting kinda too interesting lately, so I'm guessing that a major climax is building up.

The s**t has been hitting the fan full force for a while. Basically there it has been some pretty big build up to Valentine's day and it looks like is going to be a major showdown since things have been happening to everyone :

Inari : Tanbabashi has been acting really weird, on the outside he seems cold and not interested, but and deep down we know that he is totally bothered by what's happening with Inari (whose attitude has been changing since the start of the story). He actually sees her speaking with Uka at the end of 34, while he couldn't see Uka he could understand that "something was happening". I don't think he'll get hung up on that, though; but he totally realizes that he wants to know more about Inari.

Suminoe : She was confessed by a Senpai previously (I think it was the captain of the club she is the manager of). Following Inari's advice of being true to her feelings she mustered enough bravery to reject the confession flatly (she was bothered by a bunch of stuff before speaking with Inari). The important fact is that when rejecting the guy, she eventually slipped the gun that she liked someone, and that someone is her friend Keiko. What Suminoe couldn't tell was that Keiko happend to be within hear range and couldn't be more shocked by the announcement.

Uka : Best for last, obviously. As we have seen, she is still in denial, however a part of her seems to show more honesty (I loved a part where she was outside Inari's house, and she started to lovingly caress the nameplate on the "Touka" part). Uka managed to notice that Touka held her ribbon close at all times since now it has a pretty strong Touka "essence", they had a pretty good chemestry as he put the ribbon on her.
At a later time Inari brings up the Valentine topic and Uka is visually bothered and says "I don't have anyone to give chocolate to", when Inari points out that she is going to give Uka some chocolate, Uka realizes that is "ok" to give chocolate to friends and gets exited. Then Toshi, who was stalking near by, pops up and starts interrogating Uka if there is someone she likes, her reactions make it pretty obvious that there is and Inari apparently doesn't fail to notice. While Inari can only notice that "there is one", Toshi goes the extra mile and notices the essence on her ribbon.

Uka looked kind of jealous when she thought Touka learned how to comb a girl's hair with someone else. Turns out it was just Inari that allowed him to get so good with combing and she looked relieved.

Keiko & Touka chemistry? Isn't Keiko getting mad with Touka because he said something bad about Sumizone? That's what I got with my limited Japanese at the very least.

In any case, it seems Keiko is finally coming around regarding Sumizone, but I hope she doesn't wait too much to talk with her, since Sumizone is having quite a hard time, getting ignored and all.

First about Tanbabashi, Inari gets caught "in fraganti" by the class after having changed forms, and Tanbabashi covers for her thanks to "seeing through the disguise". Inari eventually opens up and tells him the whole story, the good thing is that the surge of honesty fixes up those rough edges that Tanbabashi was having when dealing with Inari (which was leading him to act like a jerk, and has been so for a while).

Of course that's not what we are interested in

Uka is in her house, putting all of her being in researching means to make chocolate. Inari arrives and she notices that "Uka is making friend chocolate" and Uka seems to be unconsciously bothered by the word "friend" (that means it's serious instead, right?).



Uka sends a charm with Inari for Touka, who is pretty close to his exams; and when Inari delivers the charm Toshi pops up and starts ranting (seriously for once) how "everything is Touka's fault" and what amounts that "there are barriers between Gods & Humans that shouldn't be crossed". When they are arguing, things heat up and everyone accidentally falls into a river.

Of course Touka got sick and couldn't get up, having his family instructing him to stay on bed ("It's fine to be a ronin" That mom is great ). Then Inari morphs into him (she'll fool the parents) and asks him to keep in mind Uka's feelings, "of course" he answers embarrassedly before departing.

Then Inari -while resting in bed- back tracks, and finally notices that when Touka received the charm, he had the same "loving" expression that Uka had while researching about chocolate, and finally realizes that Uka might become her Nee-san if she can help her & Touka get together (this girl is finally understanding her life's mission ).

The chapter ends with Inari wishing "it would be great for everyone to be happy", while we are shown what Touka, Uka & Suminoe are doing at the time.

Every time I read the chapter and get to the parts where the focus is on Touka and Uka, the amount of giddiness and happiness I feel is absurd.

It looks like the author's planning to tackle the issue of love between gods and humans soon which means more of the BEST thing to happen to this manga.

I also get the worst bad vibes at the end of the chapter for Touka which of course will lead to more good Touka x Uka moments so I can't complain too much.

I'm not sure how close it is to a "climax," really, given that there's a lot more to do developing the characters and their relationships.

Inari has grown impressively from the annoying brat she started off as. However, Tanbababashi-kun still needs his own arc learning about her godly powers and coming to terms with it (which might be as simple as "oh, nice lol").

Sumizome had plenty of development, is cute and earnest and seems like she's a star of her own shoujo manga somewhere else. Keiko...didn't have much of a focus. And it made the yuri romance here to this Ultra Obsessive Yuri Fan somehow so lukewarm and downright uninteresting. Given what the author has done with Inari, though, Keiko seems like she just really needs time to shine.

And we can't possibly have enough of UkaTouka! /chapter 34 kyaa

37 : A bunch of pages of Tanbabashi and Inari having a nice mood going on, Inari bakes her chocolates and it's getting ready for Valentine.

Unsurprisingly, Keiko takes a preemptive strike and declares that she won't accept any chocolate this year (which shocks the group, as everybody knew that Suminoe was going to confess with chocolate). Inari runs after Keiko as she leaves and tries to fit things up seeing Suminoe's resigned expression, within the talk Keiko tells her that she knows Suminoe's feelings; with actually ends with an argument.

The chapter ends with someone (female student) sneaking into Inari's seat and stealing her chocolate (I'll remind you that within the class a rumor that Inari & Tanbabashi like each other is going around, and Tanbabashi is pretty popular).

38 : Inari realizes that her chocolate is gone, and Suminoe spots someone suspicious and goes into "dark mode" and says "she stole it". Inari is confused and doesn't want to suspect someone, Tanbabashi follows her tears and after a talk suggest transforming in the culprit.

Of course we all know what's going to happen next. Inari gets into a trouble due to bumping into people before changing back and Suminoe is pretty worried and goes to chase after Inari.

Where is my Uka fix? D:

Oh, and some people claim that this series is completed already. That doesn't seem to be so, as there are too many threads to solve right now and the valentine shodown hasn't even truly started yet.

I'm not really a fan of the more serious drama moments this manga has; it seems like some common sense and caution would easily prevent them from occurring.
