Like I said somewhere else, Futakoi Alternative seems to have started a trend. People were saying they liked the idea of a threesome, and maybe that's where we are. I really appreciate not having to choose, and I'm sure Hazumu does, too. But what kind of relationship will Tomari and Yasuna have with each other?

I certainly agree that changing Hazumu back would be a real downer. But the authors haven't let us down so far, and I have no reason to expect they will in this, either...

I think they will end up changing him back...

yeah, she has not way of changing back unless.. Jan pu "kisses" her again in her spaceship form i think that will be the way they choose

Tomari and Yasuna appear to be becoming pretty good friends by the end of volume 3, and I think that's probably all they need to be. I'd hazard a guess that the triangle will probably be more stable that way than if they actually fell for each other as well as Hazumu.

Kashimashi's all-girl triangle actually seems more practical than a mixed-gender one like Futakoi's - since a conventional marriage and/or kids won't be possible anyway, Yasuna and Tomari won't really be giving up anything if they decide to share.

Right now I really hope Hazumu doesn't revert, because it would be utterly pointless. Hazumu started out being terrible as a boy, and all her character development since the change has been towards her feminine side. As far as I can see, going back now would only end up with Hazumu being a worse male than before - not exactly a satisfying ending in my book.

If I'm reading the manga correctly, though...

...now that it's been announced that Hazumu has only one month left to live, and the only way to save her is by someone getting close enough to her to fuse their "destiny factor" to Hazumu's... Asuta asks if that'll turn Hazumu back into a boy, and Sora answers no.

Yes. Pointless to revert to being a less adequate person. He makes a better she. You're probably right about it being better if Yasuna and Tomari remain good friends rather than anything more, although I began to think (hope?) there might be more when Tomari said how she admired Yasuna's beauty and poise (or something like that) and said how she thought she could never win out over her. And I got a copy of the March Dengeki Daioh and saw the part you refer to in your last spoiler.

It had me worried for a minute, but it does look as if she'll stay female. Who will merge her (his?) destiny with Hazumu's? Perhaps both Tomari and Yasuna? And what does that mean?

April Dengeki Daioh came out last week with chapter 22, supposedly, but I haven't seen it yet.

Nothing much happens, but I found this chapter quite moving anyway. Hazumu keeps a sunny face, intending to live her last month fully and happily, but does have to sneak off to the toilet to cry, out of sorrow at her situation and joy at the love of her friends. She wants to do all the girl things she hasn't had a chance to: she bakes cookies with her mother and plans to bake a cake the next day. And she prepares for the future by teaching underclassmen in the Gardening Club how to look after the rooftop garden.

Her friends are amazed, moved, frustrated by her seeming indifference to her plight, and by her kawaii girlishness. Their love for her increases. Yasuna matches Hazumu false beautiful smile for false beautiful smile. Tomari can't manage it. Asuta's affection increases a bit too much, and Ayuki deals with him severely. I'm beginning to think even Ayuki may be involved in joining her fate with Hazumu's. It looks as if Yasuna is ready right now.

I'm beginning to wonder if -- or perhaps to hope that -- the idea that Hazumu only has 28 days left is an experiment by Sora-sensei, attempting to learn just how strong humans love for each other is, and whether they will actually give up their independent existence for the love of another human being. On the other hand, the idea of another mythically extreme transformation is pretty interesting, too.

Hmmm...chapter 19 was "so-so", but it does leave the door open for some interesting event to come. Something I though might happen appears to be a possibility.

Reading this series as it comes out is leaving me in a constant state of drooling for more. I need to somehow forget about it for a month and then I'll have a sizable chunk to read. Enough to sate me instead of just wetting my appetite.

Hmmmm....I have mixed feelings about this "twist".

On one hand, events were progressing just too "easily" for our beloved yuri trio and this type of drama was needed to push all the players together in a more urgent manner.

On the other hand, I can't help but feel it's a bit on the cheap side. I'm tempeted to read Kaoru Chujo's spoiler for Chapter 22. I know I have more to write about this, but I'm tired tonight. I like the manga a lot.

If there are only going to be 12 or 13 episodes in the anime, they'll have to cut large chunks of Volume 3 in order to wrap things up. After 9 episodes, they aren't even through Volume 2 yet.

Or do you think this will be a case where the anime goes off in a completely different direction?

I hope they plan on extending it or a second season but it would be werid to cut the anime half way without a proper ending to a seaon.

I also felt that way, seeing as it was like a cheap way to abruptly move things forward (or end, if the creators themselves are getting fed up with the series). As much as I enjoy this series, I really hope it eventually comes to a conclusive end rather than a cop out like killing off Hazumu or the three girls remaining "friends forever"... or Sora accidentally destroying the earth.
