I guess that explains a lot of reviewers then, hehe.

I can't imagine it bombing though... Back then guys still had to deal with the trauma called the "Twilight Movies", this was the remedy

I think a lot of the reviewers I saw (for the second one at least, didn't see any for the first) were all like "lack of effort and unfunny throwback that misses the point of the movies they are throwing back to."

The second Expendables movie whilst not the greatest in terms of plot and scripts was not a bomb. Bombs just describe how commercially unsuccessful a film was but considering the box office revenue ($312 million) was over triple the filming budget ($100 million) the film would be deemed a success from a commercial stand point and therefore did not bomb. Whether you liked the movie or not is another question and that is more subjective.

Personally the second movie was an improvement over the first but really they are not worthy of watching in the cinema but on DVD or streamed. The only real reason you would watch this series is because of the cast. If they had casted a bunch of nobodies for this film no one would be interested because the plot - on its own - cannot carry the film.

The second one I thought was extremely generic and borderline a waste of time. That being said I will be seeing the third one. Glad to see Snipes in there. But no Chuck Norris? No Bruce Willis?

There are various reason why they won't be in the 3rd film. (For Willis, it was pay disputes)

Anyway. nice to see another Expendables movie.

Li returning, I thought he was planning to be a family man? Anyway, I'm watching this to see what more meta joke they can cook up. The one about museum in the last one was gold.

The climactic fight in Expendables 2 between Sly & JCVD was so lame and anticlimactic it hurts. Someone need to hire Yuen Wo Ping, Yayan Ruhian, or Sammo Hung to choreograph the fist-fights in this franchise. Outside of Jet Li, the fights are all mediocre at best. 80s-style slow fights just don't cut it anymore by today's standards.

Willis was being an A-hole again by demanding more money. That's why he's outta the band. As for Norris, I have no idea.

Statham is probably the only one that can match Li in that category lol.

But I think it's also because these guys are ancient They can't do what they used to do.

That may be the case for the old geezers, but Scott Adkins is still quite young but his fights with Statham(?) is still lackluster thanks to uninspired choreography.

A shame. His screentime was one of few things I enjoy from Exp 2. Well, he’s a "lone wolf" indeed.

Really Ford? I don't think he really suits the action hero, I prefer him as Jones. Also will this be snipes first film since being out of prison? Hopefully he still has that bad ass attitude that I love

He'll be a former CIA Analyst ex-President who dabbled in Archaeology and roguish behaviours when he was younger.
