You know, I think is a bad idea to remove your question after you get an answer to it. (at least in this thread) we all get it wrong from time to time and editing your post could lead you to a wrong Id that no one else would be able to verify.

More than just that, there might be other people looking for information about the same image, and deleting it will just make it that much harder for them.

Then claimed it was Rurouni Kenshin. I've searched every resource I could think of to find the original pic but came up with nothing. Can someone tell me if this is really Rurouni Kenshin or is actually something else that looks similar?

It's an anime called The Hakkenden (THE 八犬伝) from 1990-1993.

I need help figuring out one anime, it's rather old but recently dubbed.

The only thing I remember about it is that the father of the main character was turned into a hammer that his son uses. There was some chain and pocket watch attached that he uses and he apparently needed to fight these evil beings - I think they were all called chess pieces or something.

It's a rather kiddy anime, I remember that much.

The first thing that came to mind was Flint the Time Detective, but I watched that dubbed years ago.

I got impression of him talking about MäR and that he would just have gotten the facts wrong. ( I think this was dubbed recently so.. )

But meh I dunno. I guess it's because he said hammer and chess pieces .. but Im probably totally wrong so you might just want to ignore me.
