Just watched episode 1.... wow. The animation is good for me but the pacing. Why the heck put almost 1 volume into 1 episode. Though with this they did the whole back story already. >_> I hate the way they will do this <_<

LOL i think a lot of us here are in denial or optimistic...
May be they will just ruin v3 and the rest of episodes might be ok?

But i thought they are going to start from V1 cos many anime synopsis use the word..'once'.....sigh......

I say we should throw all our knowledge from the novels about the world, the mechanics, the characters and the events overboard and judge the anime as a standalone product. That won't make it good again, but for me, it made it watchable, at least for the moment.

Which is why I will start calling the novels Campione as usual and the anime will just be Campi, because it's missing so much...

So...: Campi has severe pacing and direction issues, a few headscratchers and beam-shooting swords. On the plus side it has nice characters, music and comedy. Some scenes even had nice details, like the news broadcast about a storm hitting the city they were in when the giant pig appeared... that's why I'll keep watching and I'm even looking forward to what will happen next.

For me I think this episode it's kind of a pre-released ova for the fans because it's the story of 1 volume in 1 episode, so I think we are gonna watch the complete thing when the series is out. this is just my personal thinking so don't think bad of me or something

If they already show this part I wonder what will happen to vol 03 being animated or the trip of Godou with the girls to visit that witch. I want a beach episode!

Without the flashback that showed how Godou defeated Verethragna to become a Campione, it's just a part of the story in Volume 4.

I hope they won't exclude the good parts of the Novel. Some things have to stay original. Although off topic, why don't the author of the Novel write what is suppose to go on in the anime version? By the way, how to post videos on the forums?

Athena fight may be altered though...

Apparently this is one of those series where you're better off not reading the novels beforehand because it looks like all the novel readers are disappointed, while I enjoyed the heck out of myself watching this.

Yeah it might be cos i am seeing so many positive reaction from non LN reader
but its different from its original novel to the point of even kadi want to change its name....

It's a reasonably entertaining ride, but the novel readers are left sitting there cursing at the huge amount of stuff that was left out or skipped over (hence the ZnT comparisons). The core of Campione! is really about the interplay between its cast of characters - sure, its fundamental premise is based on conflict and hence the big climax is always a fight, but it's not really an action-focused story.

Well, adaptations of exposition-heavy novels will always be tough.
There's simply no feasible way to cram in all the detailed dialogue and monologue.

And as Kadi pointed out earlier, adapting the story faithfully in chronological order of events would make Erica too dominant and set the wrong tone for the series. Perhaps skimming through the origin story was an attempt to address that.

Hopefully the pace will slow down, but if they really are adapting up to Volume 5 in a single cour (12/13 episodes), I really cannot imagine what will result.

In that case of 3-11-1-2-4-5, it is true that Erica would become too dominant..i am still wondering why don;t they make it like the LN completely...some say it is because hard to understand.....it does feel like that for me when i first read it. anyone feel that?

But currently i have a feeling that there won't be any 11..
They might go directly to V1-2-4-5 after that compressed v3..it could even be possible that they would ignored v4 and make lily joined directly after v2...i mean for 12/13 episodes..
Or the series would completely be original with little novel content.
