It seems that K-On! Albums sold in total of almost 700,000 albums (calculated it myself)... yes, it seems that K-On! does seems to print money with all those albums they are selling so far in the last 5-6 months.

Music video collection is needed... either animated or live-action with the VAs. (begins poking at K-On! production team)

Wow! I underestimated what Azusa could bring to the OP/ED. I especially love the changes made to the ED.

I am not that all surprised because the lyrics are pretty interesting and runs well with the music, like Dream Theater's Count Of The Tuscany.

Also, Mugi's VA seem to be a ventro, she sounds alot like Minori Chihara in Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou (as Kaho-chan).

As soon as something goes up on either Pony Canyon or the show's website, I'll be in here with the song titles ASAP. Nothing yet, though.

I am a man of my word, however not-actually-in-the-dictionary that word is.

Information!

To begin, Ui and Nodoka's covers are a lot less covered in multicolored balls than the band. No full-color backgrounds or fancy clothes or versions of "Let's Go!" either. But they are secondary characters, so something less flashy is to be expected.

And now for my favorite part. Song titles!

Ui
"Lovely Sister LOVE"
"Oui! Ai Kotoba" (Oui!愛言葉)

Nodoka
"Coolly Hotty Tension Hi!!"
"Prologue" (プロローグ)

No "Let's Go?" WTF?
But...But...That's one of the things I was looking forward too.
I'm looking forward to seeing if Nodoka can sing

I'm not sure about the second track, but the first track has me even more convinced that Ui really loves her sister.

Seeing as this is the music discussion thread for K-ON!'s music...

Anyone notice how strange the music is theory-wise?

I've noticed that just about every song, if not all, contains interesting notes strung with other interesting notes. For example, a common recurring pattern is F#-Bb-B, which can be heard in Don't Say Lazy and Fuwa Fuwa Time. Cagayake! Girls utilizes the minor scale very well, and then jumps back into major for the end of the bass riff.

(Oh yeah, I should mention that I'm referring to the bass lines, but for the most part Yui plays the same chords).

But yeah, anyone else notice that the people playing the music aren't just actual pop band-talented people and really have a fair degree of talent and knowledge of theory when it comes to composing? Just thought I'd throw that out there for possible discussion.

I would assume that is so that it seems like the same person (Mio) is writting all the songs.

Eh well....

It is F-Ab-B. 1-5-7 or 1-6-7 according to chords. But I think it is pretty normal to because they add stuff to give it a "cool rock" feel to the piece. There is another piece with bass/guitar rhythm sounding like that, and that is "Northern Cross" by May'N from Macross Frontier.

Regarding the players : it is always cheaper to hire amateurs. In last years AFA held in Singapore, there is a band which played songs like Flashback from FMA, they have got mediocre individual playing skills, but their musical coordination is excellent. It is about the overall band performance that wins listeners, not just the individual player.

Another thing : the band which played Maddy Candy is very likely to be a different band. There is a sizeable gap in skill for the guitarists and drummers. Playing the instrumental part for Maddy Candy which goes :

F# A# A#(8va) E-F#-E-D# C#-B-A#-C#-A# F#-G#-A#-G# D#

in a rhythm of

4 8 8 16-16-16-16-16-16-16-16-16 16(rest) 8-8-8-8-8.

Where 4 is a crotchet, 8 is a quaver and 16 is a semiquaver.

It is not easy. And the drummer is most likely using dual pedals, which is neither easy for a drummer who is used to using only one. Listen out for the triplets done on the bass drum.
