So wait.... Captain Sakura and Cleo's mom were talking to each other? Do they know each other? Was it a friendly rivalry kind of thing?
Spoiler for 45:
oops my bad. i thought she looked like cleo's mom. never mind...
with regard to breaking into the city - it really depends on how he does it. from the geography it doesnt seem likely they could jump over the walls and i didnt see any cliffs to drop from so i thought they might have another small force break a part of the wall in secret. If it is a small patch it could probably be reinforced/fixed but the defenders still have higher ground so it is not like they will lose that.
I think with sheer numbers the enemy could do small hit and runs to exhaust the opposing force mentally and physically while they themselves staying fresh.
Yeah to add onto that. Basically the enemies are pouring into a bottleneck and are getting pounded by the defenders. We do see general sakura in the frontline and she's are basically saying either way this was not going to end pretty and they will be in for the long haul and will depend on troops morale. Then we see the psycho general on a cliff (with some sinister golems in the backgound) saying "i will break through within 2 weeks...."
I think what he is doing is maybe weaken a side of the fortress while the main forces are duking it out then invade from within. He could also maybe jump from high elevation but we dont see the full map so hard to tellSince the defenders are all equipped with guns and probably wont have a melee weapon handy if the psycho general do it right he could take out a huge chunk of the defenders with melee before they could react. So I see the general succeeds in coming in BUT gets beaten back by Rygart and his new weapon.
Thanks for the added info.

You bring up a very interesting part where Cpt. Sakura talks on troop moral and the person they are dealing with. I expect that insane general to do some of the things you have mentioned but I also expect him to pull of some of those disgusting stunts that he pulled in the past that got him waiting for trail on war crimes when Athens came to him to end the current war quickly. As for the seige of the city, I am seeing something similar to those scenes from the Kingdom of Heaven film.

Spoiler for 45:
it remains to be seen what demoralizing thing the general can do - he cant grab dead soldiers since it will incur a lot more casualty since they would be basically dragging them from the front gate. He could grab random civilians though like meat shields? But then again I think most people has been evacuated into the city so any "relatives" are probably not gonna be in the mix. It does look kinda like kingdom of heaven except as far as we know they dont have catapults and need golems with those rams to charge in - very tough task. I would compare the fortress like lord of the rings 2 at helm's deep where the humans thought they were impenetrable till the bomb dropped...

Spoiler for 45 response:
Great comparison with the Lord of the Ring referrence. As for the demoralization part, if I recall, does not the enemy have the bodies of General Tool/True and his fallen army or were they returned during the prisoner exchange? If the former, then General Borcuse could use them to infuriate people like Narvi into commiting rash decisions.
Girge is dead At least, he had a great death and all but still And Narvi lost her long hair That Borcuse bastard I hope he will die in a atrocious way
What's the next chapter (number) after the vol 8 ?
Spoiler for volume 8:
Yeah, I was really sad too. Girge is the most badass character in this series . I wish we'd get more of him. Uh...if you're up to where Girge dies then after that is
Spoiler for spoiler about future events:
when Rygart takes part in the hostage exchange and then goes on a "date" with Sigyn.

Vol. 8 ends at chapter 42 and the start of Vol.9 starts at 43. The current chapter is up at 45 with 46 (I think) is coming out next month. From what I have seen, the volumes from Break Blade contain about 5 to 6 chapters, so we might see the entirity of Vol.9 by either the end of November or December.
Also:
Spoiler for Spoiler:
It is sad the Girge died but at least he put that loli in her place before he went.
Posting to say that I have seen the chapter 46 raw.
Spoiler for Chapter 46:
The early parts of the chapter deal with General Borcus men trying to enter the capitol and failing. We are treated to some fanservice in Narvi taking a shower but then reports to General Bard. I do not know if this is a plan or an act of idiocy, but someone then decides to open the gates to let in some of Athens soilders. That is were the chapter ends with Athen golems inside the city but a sound is coming from somewhere with the citizens of Krishna looking on. I am getting a "King Arthur" feeling here for some reason. Also, there was no sign of Rygart/Lygotto in this chapter at all. Can not wait for next month's release to see what happens.
To add on - basically the person who opened the door is a noble - he tricked the gate guards to open the door by saying that the king gave orders to let the enemies (40 golems) in so they could do a pincer attack. However, after the enemies got in he basically turned coat and they are advancing... Borcuse commented that not everyone is as selfless as the king.

Cool, thanks very much for the clarification.
Spoiler for Response to spoiler:
Well that sucks. I thought it would have been a plan to trick the golems into coming in but it turns out to be a noble sold out his country. What is the old saying, there is a special place in hell for traitors and turncoats. Anyway, it going to very interesting to see if the enemie can be turned back.
It's interesting that you see an Arthurian connection to the manga. It certainly fits the plot very well. I think Lygatto might just come back and save the day.
Lol, my apologies for not explaining what I was saying a few post back. I was making a reference to King Arthur film that starred Clive Owen and Keira Knightly. I was talking about the scene to where the barbarians are let into the gates only to have it closed on them as they are ambushed. I was thinking something similar would happen when the Athen's golems were let in the city but recently it was found out that a noble sold them out. But it is true that I do see some Arthurian references in some parts of the manga.
The new scanlators call Lygatto, Rygart, his official name.
Also the squad gets into an ambush by Io and Nike. And the fate of Narvi & Nile ends with a cliffhanger.
