Somewhat justified, considering it was supposed to be her destiny, but I seriously can't seem to like her at all. Stella, Fenimore, Chloe, Norma and almost every other female in ToL imo is more likable than Shirley. Well, Senel's at fault too.

And did anyone else noticed the whole parrarel with GSD? Senel's original VA was Shinn's. Stella = Stellar. The whole final moment of embrace. (( Those who played till the whole Vaclav thing know what I mean )). Wings of Light. Iron Eres = Destiny Finger. Chloe looks somewhat Luna-ish I suppose. Ferines = sleeping with the fishes. Break the World = Legacy?

I just realised that Tales has a bit of tendecy to take on somewhat controversial themes. ToE had the whole human and alien theme going, I think. Rebirth was all about racism. Legendia was about opinions on differing races/people. And Abyss had the whole human/replica theme.

Nevertheless, is it just me or was ToL too easy ?
Maybe that's the reason, why some people find this game good.

Can't wait till Tales of the Tempest gets released, woundering if it will support wifi.

that's why I got a little bored when I started Rebirth after finishing Symphonia

although Abyss does sort of have a human/replica idea in the story
it's less like what's happening in rebirth about the racism stuff....
that's why I personally like it the best

Ah, I forgot about ToS. Been a while since I played the JAP PS2 version.

I thought Abyss was better because it not only develops the theme of human/replica really well, it's theme of the humanity blinded by the Score was also very immersing and made the villians look better and more human than typical wackos.

Not to mention Luke's personal dilemma in the 2nd half of the game. While I heard some people complaining about his angst, I found it very enjoyable and made Luke a very strongly developed main character.

Seems there are alot of people who dislike/hate Shirley. I actually grew to like her since Vaclav surely showed that the Ferines deserved sympathy. Vaclav killed the Ferines without batting an eyelash.

Many people consider Shirley to be quite selfish. Because she didn't get Senel she chose to be Merines. At the end of the game, she got Senel and suddenly had a mood shift from "genocide mode" to "peace between Ferines and Orerines mode". Some even go as far as her hating Stella, and then wishing upon her Everlight pendant for Stella to die.

First of all, I think that Shirley was pressured by ALOT of people to become the Merines. I would also think that Stella's last wish was misunderstood. Stella's last wish was for her to make people happy- and for the Ferines to be happy, she had to be Merines. Second, Senel's rejection surely weakened her emotionally. That, coupled with Fenimore's death by Orerines, allowed Raging Nerifes's whispers to reach to her. I strongly believe that Raging Nerifes's whispers must've been all about the Orerines's abuse of the Ferines and all that, which held Shirley to be Merines, even if she still had some doubts about it (I understand that the activation of the Wings of Light was delayed by a long time). Then, Senel's words of conversion to Shirley, I understood to be that Senel's trusted her. After learning the truth about Senel's secret and that she was the only one who didn't know about it must've shattered her memories of Senel and her being siblings. Senel keeping a secret like that from her must've brought her to believe that the time she shared with Senel were nothing but an illusion. After seeing Senel's resolve at the Wings of Light, and how he fought desperately to reach her, must've brought enough strength for her to finally reject Nerifes. Of course, Senel finally "confessing" to her had a great impact as well, but I don't think that was entirely the reason she had converted.

Finally, I HIGHLY doubt that Shirley hated Stella. In fact, I think she was pretty close with her. Shirley went to Stella's grave when she was troubled about Thyra. Senel's words saying that he knew she'd be by Stella's grave somehow hints that Shirley and Stella's bond was deep.

I've just finished Chloe's CQ, and I would LOVE to see the ending in full animation... Everything from when Senel and co. enter The Forest of No Return upto Chloe's decision to stay... Hell, the whole CQ animated qould be better!! Oh and Will's CQ was also greta.

Listening to ToL OST on my winamp right now, and I'm seriously falling in love with it, especially Whisper of the Crystal and The Bird Chirps, I Sing *_*

Can somebody please explain what's the deal with the plot?
In terms of chronology, do the character quests take place before, during, or after the main plot? Do the character quests create a second main plot, or are they all separate vignettes?

The Character Quests takes place (If I remember right) 2 months after the main plot.

Despite common belief, the Character Quests are not side stories, and are required to understand the characters fully.

Technically the entire game is one big character quest, just Senel/Shirley's CQ is longer than the others.
