And there. After YEARS, Disappearance is finally done.

Spoiler for The Disappearance of Haruki Suzumiya - Epilogue:

I never want to do anything like this again, but I'll consider doing Intrigues and/or the trilogy if and when the anime gets to them.

Thanks for reading.

If not Intrigues itself, how about just the prologue so that we can have closure to Disappearance.

YAAAAY Disappearance is done! Finally!
But yeah, like Crow said, I think doing the Intrigues prologue next would be good enough.

Something's been bugging me for a while.. ribbons work fine on Haruhi, but they just look weird on Haruki. How well do you think it'd work if they were replaced with headphones à la Neku?

Usually it has been headphones and a plastic headband, if I recall correctly.

We gave him a ribbonless headband, like Harima Kenji.

He has yellow headphones too, but doesn't normally wear them.

I don't think that words can accurately describe how much win this is composed of.

I wonder if pictures would accurately describe them. Hm... Since a picture is worth a thousand words, and since words cannot accurately describe them, then no, pictures cannot describe the amount of win. But those are pictures so... They don't describe themselves? I DON'T KNOW!

Genderbent Disappearance is done! Yay! Thanks, Kaisos.

I actually like Book Kyon. But then again, I'm (still) reading Boredom. (Since I find Remote Island Syndrome so boring. No pun intended.)

Hi everyone! I'm new and I still have a lot to read in this thread. Let me just say that I really appreciated your rewritten version of the novels, so much that I started a translation project. Since I'm italian, and here the pubblication of the novels has just started, I wanted to publish the italian translated version, but of course I need your permission. Can someone help me?
P.S. sorry if bad english...

Well, it's been awhile.

So, a few months ago, I decided to actually write up some basic Ren'Py code for the demo of the VN. It's pretty bare -bones, owing to the general lack of art and whatnot, but it does cover everything Kaisos put up on here for the first six days. The routes should all be coded correctly, and as far as I can tell I got all of the flags put in properly.

Is anyone interested in playing through this? There really isn't much to look at, owing to the aforementioned lack of art, but the text is all there and I worked up a few sound effects. Oh, and I included the poker scene someone put out a few years ago.

I wanna play through it! I can Ren'Py fairly well, too, which might be useful.

Here's the link:

https://rapidshare.com/files/1760866...0Demo)-all.zip

I don't really need programming help, as a) the vast majority of what I was doing involved formatting things for proper dialogue and setting up the logical flow of scenes and b) I did this a few months ago mostly to lay groundwork. Unless/until we get art, there's no real reason to take it any further.

Should we ever get said art, however, feel free to update it on your own (though I'd at least like to know it's happening).

EDIT: If you come across any problems, let me know and I'll try to fix them in my free time.

Might I ask what this is? I've tried running it but I get some errors with file pathing.
The few minutes of the game I've run through provided by scify have been enjoyable (and the files in the zip file totally work ). Did we ever end up with some amount of finalized artwork? I vaguely recall some amount of usable artwork for backgrounds and such.

Easiest BGs are simply stock photos or artwork of whatever (interiors, outdoors etc). You could also lightly blur it like in Tsukihime. Doing BGs 'properly' takes up quite a bit of time, and is probably best reserved for more event specific BGs.

I have no idea what that is. Not anything I've done, unless Kaisos or Danchou threw it up there after I first sent them the files months ago.

As for the artwork, well... I scrounged together what I could from the archives, but a lot of the images were no longer being hosted by the time I went looking for them, so pretty much everything in there right now is either screencapped or stuff I found via google. I've had some thoughts about finding real shots of Nishinomiya for the backgrounds (which is what I think was done for Katawa Shoujo), but... yeah. Free time isn't something I've had much of.
