Okay, finally, here @ the end, I can explain (hopefully) why I've been so short with people the past few days. First: Everyone here knows that I lost my job for a VERY stupid-ass reason. That was about a week or two ago. Since then, I've been turned down by a dozen professors for an equally stupid-ass reason as why I lost my job. Second: Third: I'm busy trying to resolve an argument that my family and my fiancee's family are having about what I'm doing for graduate school - WHICH NONE OF THEM HAVE ANY STAKE IN. The situation is NOT helped by the fact that my fiancee's parents have threatened to call off the wedding if things don't end in their favor. Final: I'm having to deal with this all by myself, despite asking these two coaches my parents have hired to 'improve the family dynamic' for help, and receiving only the answer: "You're a man, you're going to get married, deal with it on your own." They say this, despite the fact that anyone who knows me in person also knows that I NEVER ask for help unless I'm desperate. In Summary: My crap-taking ability is at its limit (or near it). So if I explode, you'll understand why. |

As far as I've written the last scene, Nanoha dove from high altitude to the surface, dodged/blocked an attack, stopped, shot her own attack, defended while trying to use a power attack, dodged again, tried to attack again, but was blinded. The fact that they split up to go one-on-one with each other deviates from Earth style air combat doctrine right there. You're going to have to give a more clear example of what you're talking about. I may be doing it on autopilot without knowing it, and can't see it. Because I AM trained, and thus to me, there is simply a right and a wrong way to fight based on that training. |

Hey Goose, dont forget the PM.
Quote:
I think the one who will really give Gwen trouble (and I would say beat her most of the time) is Mayura, though. Mayura does not rely much on magic, and that's a bad thing for Gwen's strategy. At least Gwen is used to fighting melee types, since she practices daily with Iris, who is a melee speed-type, though that doesnt mean she can beat them easily or in a regular basis. Keeping her distance is key. And yup, mock battles are in order. Quote:
I see. And whenever their distance shortens, Signum may be in trouble. And yeah, Lenalee's boots in particular seem to fit Mayura very well, since it would give her the mobility she needs. Quote:
HOLY SHI--!!! WANT. Quote:
One little thing you said, though... Quote:
Now the question is, why would she suddenly decide to take up a more active role in combat? This could be a good idea for your scenarios - giving Hayate a motivation to become better in combat instead of just staying at headquarters commanding her troops. Of course, you still gotta keep in mind her position - she falls and her entire unit may fall apart. She has an important role, not just in battle. The tricky part will be giving Hayate a good motivation - there must be quite a dangerous threat that would require her to go out and help her unit, like she did against Scaglietti and the Cradle. Just some ideas. Quote:
Maybe the secret organization should exist outside the TSAB, though. At least the Ground Forces already had a similar secret plan (the Einherjar) and it failed. Quote:

Who will be Sophia's love interest now? Quote:
And so you thought about Shaman King as well, huh? Nice. The stuff about Shamans sure is crackish though. At least it can be an excuse for how he is able to get along so well with Fried and Garyuu... and maybe other dragons... Quote:
*after reading Lowes comment* Ah, 00 ep 19... havent watched that yet. Quote:

Vita is another example - she has as much experience as Signum - but she has not actually shown that she is that much better than, say, the Aces. In any case, I do agree that they have more experience. I guess 7arcs did not give them enough credit, especially during StrikerS. BTW, none of my comments above refer to power. And just to make it clear, my favorite ace is Hayate. While Aaron feels the need to develop her further (something that I also want), I feel the need to make sure she stays as Hayate. One of the reasons why Hayate is my favorite Ace, and I would dare say favorite character, is that she actually has weaknesses. Probably you guys wont feel the same as me, but I feel that Nanoha and Fate are way too perfect. They are both good at everything, they dont make any mistakes, all their decisions are correct, and stuff. They are just 19 years old, and yet there is not much room for character development in regards to their combat abilities, and even power, since they have already reached almost unreachable ranks by TSAB standards (S+ and above). There is just room for developments such as how to become a mother and crap ... at 19 years old ... Not saying that those developments are automatically crap, just that a 19 year old girl should be doing other stuff. Well, that became a small rant, sorry about that. And for the record, the above was not directed at Keroko - dont want to cause any trouble. Quote:

The main obstacle would actually be the three admirals who are heroes and carry alot of political weight. It was they who led the TSAB to its present state. And some of the left-wing extremists gave up trying to wait for a political change after 40 years and thus, the rogue faction was created. Quote:

I get to see real life girls wearing cheongsam sometimes during Chinese New Year in my country. Though I must say its quite rare around here. Not many people seem to want to wear our traditional clothes any more. My friend called it the deterioration of our culture, and I have to sadly agree that it is true. Quote:
---------------------------------------- @Goose and Kagerou: I had the strange urge suddenly to tell you guys something. Though actually after some discussions lately, I think I do have an idea why I'm doing this. I hope you guys don't think I'm not commenting on your fics on purpose. Its just that I kept missing the first few chapters, and it piled up. And I just thought, "heck, I'll read everything one shot some day, seeing as the releases are quite frequent, I'll have a lot to read". Why? Cuz after reading some of the fics I frequent in FF.NET, the frequent cliffhangers gnaw at me. I don't suppose you do cliffhangers? I know PF does. *swears to wring PF's neck if the next chapter is another cliffhanger* (speaking of which, what happened to FlameSparkZ?? T_T) Especially at Goose, we Malaysians need to stick together! (Poor USB is alone in Sarawak though) So anyway, am trying to devour backlogged MLSN Alphas chapters now. Do hope I don't get stomach ache from eating too much. (should it be brain ache in this case? *ponders*) You must forgive me if I stay away from military discussions and such though. I have 0 knowledge when it comes to things like that. It'll just make me look dumb if I try to comment on something I know nothing of. That being said, I'm staying away from the whole roleplaying thing too. Has too much potential for trouble. *Looks at post* Why am I being long-winded again!!?? *shakes head* Edit: Now that I think of it, I hope I didn't offend you back when we were questioning why the OFM needed to use conventional weapons.

It's okay to stray from the heavy military stuff; OFM is steeped in it, which makes a good read for some, not a lot for others. I'm a huge military nut (still making preparations for joining the USAF, actually ), but I try to write "light" enough that most people don't have to know 400 pages of military tactics to understand what's going on. And you didn't offend us when you questioned the need for conventional weapons. It allowed us to explain why we needed them in the first place .

No prob on staying away from the military discussions... Kagerou does more soft-ish, while I do more hardcore milspec writing - it's not really a read for everyone, though I try and attract people with charecter interactions and dialogue. I think I've become quite good at cracky interactions . On the other hand though, there's Joint Training, which is pretty much an excuse to ramp up hot blood levels to over 9000 <.< Right now I'm working on something for Prelude to Alpha, a series of one-shots set before MSLN Alpha. Sneak preview: Spoiler for Preview:
...Stream on consciousness at 2:46 AM makes no sense. *sighs* What I find really lol though, is that no one has commented on Emili & Naomi's combo attack which was mentioned in passing: RAMPAGE GHOST: WEISS YURI SHIFT. Which involves yelling, beamspam.... And ends both of them in each others arms, gazing into each others eyes, going "...I love you..." while Glen facepalms in the background.

I am not trying to make her perfect! I'm just trying to develop her from her borderline-defeatist attitude from StrikerS! T__T I hate Mary-sueism and I sure as hell would NOT like Hayate to be one! And also, I'm not just improving her whimsically! I'm trying to give her proper reasons, motivations, and some painful experiences that can warrant such improvements as a mage, but most importantly, as a PERSON! T___T Quite honestly, to me, she's being portrayed as an almost complete loser, both ability-wise and attitude-wise in canon. But I DO NOT intend to suddenly turn her into a winner. I intend to give her development that will give her the attitude to win! I don't want her to win because she's a LOLprotagonist nor because she's my favorite. I want her to win because she deserves to! I'll say it now, and I'll say it a thousand times if need be! In the end of GenerationS, is Hayate a perfectly determined girl that is now set on taking the world; as well as a super-mage that has minimal weaknesses? HELL NO! She'll still be full of regrets, sadness and misgivings. But she'll also have according determination to change herself and those around her! Ability-wise, she's still the nuker! Always have, always will. But there are some things that I can make her go thru to improve herself. Not to become perfect, but to become a better human being! And those include both spiritual/mental/emotional and ability-development within realistic bounds. That's one of the reasons why I like her more than anybody else! Her potential development is full of possibilities! The idea of her being fine where she is is fine. But being static for life is not a good thing either! Accepting if you have a weakness and doing something about some weaknesses that you can improve upon, for everyone's sakes are two different things! I'm not doing this to make her weaknesses in combat, even though I hate some of them disappear. I'm doing this just for the plain purpose of developing my favorite character naturally as I think she would and could be in the future! I have reasons, both fabricated and canon. I have the means! Thru some OC's and set limitations. I have reasons to. And that should be obvious! Uwah~ *COUGH!* Anyway, GenerationS, the next chapter is now up to 7,000+ words. Lots of combat, commentary, interactions, fanservice and crack included!

Just a friendly reminder that I archive the fanfictions made by AnimeSuki members on the front page of the fanfiction thread. If you have any stories written and do not have them archived there, please contact me Via PM so I can work with you to get the needed information to be sure everyone can easily access your stories. Doesn't matter if it's OC or not, a fanfic is a fanfic :P
Looking forward to hearing from you ^.^ P.S~you don't have to have them posted somewhere, we can link to post in the OC thread just as easily as a link to fanfiction.net, ect. I will do all the formatting and stuff for you if you can provide the links <3

I do believe Hayate can already magically defend herself, even from melee attackers, though. What she is not good at is actual non-magical melee combat, reason why she said even Caro could beat her (and Caro was showing her big fist in the background, lol). And even that was a joke. Quote:
I see what's going on here... whenever we write "Hayate", Aaron's computer beeps. Quote:
Also, apparently being in Special Investigations did not help her much, since during episodes 11, when she used Hrslverg (sorry, I forget the spelling), she said that it had been a while since she used magic. And that's great. Given good reason, she will surely want to improve in combat. Quote:
Quote:
What I was saying before is that you only need a good reason for Hayate to want to develop her combat skills further. Also, what I am trying to get through is that Hayate does not exactly need to improve her combat skills for her to "become better". There are various other ways for her to become better, such as becoming a better commander, improving her leadership skills, her strategies and tactics, etc. A good leader can win any battles without interfering. However, that does not mean that she can just disregard her own combat skills, since every leader should be able to step forward and aid her troops at any time, and that is one thing that Hayate has done in canon, which is very good. Another good point was brought up by Estavali. Hayate, or any leader, must know how to defend themselves, even if just until reinforcements arrive. I personally do not believe that the current Hayate is "helpless" as some say. She may not be good in actual non-magical melee combat, but she can surely use her magic to stay safe (at least for a moment, if against a very skilled assassin). In any case, I have never doubted your intentions, I was just trying to give you a few ideas - though clearly that was not needed. Also, with my reworked characters I have already thought of some scenarios to give CCs some character development too. Unfortunately, though, I have to stick to canon, so I cannot give them too much development. For now, Fate and Hayate are the two whom I will be working with a little. Anyway, I hope that clears things up. Quote:

Well if you talk about tradition, it doesn't include the mini-skirt version. That version is kind of a modern fashion, and I must admit I've never seen anyone wear those myself. OMFG BIG BOO BOO! I mean during A's. *shots self in the head* I wonder how many know who she really is. Though fact is she doesn't exist in canon. Quote:
Quote:
*licks lips* *runs from Aaron* Long replies are long. Like I said before, none of us mind the changes you are planning, Aaron. I personally think that the command position has left her little time to develop her prowess as a mage, much less in melee. This justification is actually rather solid (considering what 7arcs usually comes up with. ). But there is also no problem in saying that she has learned to arrange time to do so anyway after the events in StrikerS. In this case, it is also not a problem in using the events in StrikerS itself to justify her need to train herself. In conclusion, and I quote Nike, "Just do it!"
