I couldn't find a thread for macross 7 so I guess this is the best place to ask this question. I have not watched macross 7, but I was reading about it. is the Love triangle between Basara, Mylene and Gamlin left open ended or did Mylene finally pick one?

Yeah, the end result was never stated. Basara flew away to sing somewhere, Gamlin folowed him and Mylene couldn't pronounce either of their names as they flew by.

ah! so that is why they call their love triangle one of the most infamous in the macross universe in the article I was reading.

Well, the end of the actual series centered around the plot story. There was no romance or triangle there, accept for a brief scene. A movie with Milia, Encore and Dynamite 7 were produced following the end. Nothing considering the 'triangle' was stated there. If someone asked me I'd say that they hoped to make a second series after 7, to resolve it. M7 was not so popular though.

I'm hoping that Alto and Sheryl gets together in the end. I won't say anything bad about Ranka (because I don't care for her) and because I don't want to look stupid if the triangle goes the other way.

So I'm just going to wait and see what happens. I will, however, be royally pissed if he ends up with nobody and the 3 of them lives happily ever after.... c'mon now, the hints seriously can't be for an ending like that -_-;

You know what's funny, their friendship got way more development through the series than, say, Basara x Mylene.

Actually it was the focus in an Encore episode, if only as a joke ("who the hell will you chose Mylene??")..Dynamite just endorses the fact that she can't be happy without both hanging around, so yeah, nothing new.

Quite the opposite actually. Surprising as it may be, and it is also the longest ever Macross TV series, with so much OVAs and additional media that even Macross Frontier as of now cannot compare.
