Not that silly, not that odd, but kinda cool:

This summer's Google is Superflat

Watchers of Summer Wars will quickly realize how much Hosoda was influenced by Murakami.

This has to be the LAMEST thing ever done by the US government :

J.P. Morgan fined by SEC over mortgage securities

Quote:
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — J.P. Morgan Chase will pay $154 million to settle Securities and Exchange Commission charges that it misled investors in a complex subprime mortgage securities transaction at the onset of the housing market collapse, the agency said Tuesday.
In 2008, the US government bailed JPM out for $12,000,000,000 (12 billion). And now, they are pressing a charge to get back only 1.28% of the goddamn money?

+1 dumbassery point to another stupid thing :

Grim cigarette labels aim to curb smoking (2:06)

Quote:
June 20 - The U.S Food and Drug Administration will release graphic warning labels for cigarette packages this week, to remind the American public about the dangers of smoking, moving away from the smaller print warnings currently found on cartons. Pavithra George reports.
It didn't work in Singapore, it was an epic fail. So how will it work in US?

Facts are certainly little where experts are many.

Well, technically, I can't think of any culture where sexting a 12 years old isn't frowned upon...

But that's besides the point in this case.

The fact that it's an Amish man (or at least one passing off as such) doing the sexting is the real issue here.

My point is that there's no reason to believe Amish men adhere more strictly to their own mores than the rest of us, even and especially when said mores are stricter and include "not using electricity".

If I recall the youth are allowed to use electronics until such time as they decide to become full members of the church (on baptism if I recall). So it isn't entirely unusual to see a group of teens riding out behind a horse with music turned up loud from their boombox or whatever. So this could be someone that wasn't baptised, but still lives in the community, thus electronics are viable still. There is also a sect that doesn't completely throw out technology, but a mijority of technology. You'll see houses with a telephone pole or power line, but only rarely. From what I remember of Amish country in Pennsylvania.

Sexting a 12 year old is not.

Like others said, I can't see any religion/culture than would allow sexting...

But that has nothing to do with the bailout. It's a settlement over a fine for their activities that led to them needing to be bailed out. JP Morgan-Chase supposedly repaid the TARP money they received.
