So here's a dilemma I'm facing.
After I watched that genderswap video a few times, suddenly something sparked in my brain, and now I have the strongest urge to write a fanfic based on this. Inspiration strikes: writers will probably know what I mean. The problem is that I'm not sure if I'll be stepping on any toes or duplicating any work by writing that story. At best I'll have something that's boringly similar; at worst I'll be accused of plagiarism. I suppose I'm effectively asking permission to write my own fanfic based on this. I don't want to intrude on Kaisos's (or anyone else's) work, after all. |

Maaaa... Still, this sure is inspiration worthy. How many people are going to jump in with their own ideas and premice? Whoever origionally came up with the genderbend in the first place is probably giving themselves a right pat on the back, what with having created an anime fad with one of the most popular series in the world. Personally I'd be damn proud. "...First, the fan projects. Then, the media. And then, THE WORLD! HAH!" Church of Haruhi is coming. She will inspire fear in ALL genders. |

(I am beginning to think that somebody's been frequenting Komica)
I can't wait for C74 now. Kyonko seems to fill the emotional void for Kyou lovers according to some people... I wonder how good will the doujin be with Kyon receiving this much love from artists and fans alike... edit: started on another picture for kyon. edit2: Somebody took the Figma figurines and came up with this:

Hey, I just got an idea about Haruki's past relationships with girls...
Haruhi got sick and tired of dating guys because they always did the same thing when they went on dates with her... why don't we do the same thing with Haruki? Like the girls expecting candlelit dinners, sweet nothings, etc. Stuff guys find boring. So he finally got sick of it, and stopped bothering to chase after girls who thought like that. Enter Kyon-ko, a girl with a lack of interest in romance at all. Then Haruki's all like: "A WORTHY CONQUEST!" (My "IRL" friend Raijinken actually came up with some of these ideas... we thought it up while trying to gender-bend the lyrics to Parallel Days...) |

Great idea and a very potential one, i admit. An anime series based on this more or less will receive lots of welcome from Haruhi fans.
Especially Kyon-ko, and Mizuki seemed to fit well in it. However Haruki, (or Garuhi) will lose his unique characteristic (that only can be found in a female character) and turn into an rather normal and annoying character, whom we can find in almost every shounen sub character's list. It will not change how the story process actually, but if a change make a main character in the story become a sub char, i won't think it can be considered as success So unless we can figure out how Haruki can be likable in her male role; i would be the first (maybe here, at least) to officially oppose the idea. PS: i am wondering how can she be both "cool" and do not conflict the storyline, but don't have any idea yet

And, I might note, that character type is only regulated to a "sub-character" because most male anime characters tend to be the utterly useless harem lead that male viewers can apparently "identify with" and are made of STUPIDITY. I hate you, Makoto Itou. I hate you, Shinji Ikari. I hate you, Yuji Sakai. This is why we need Haruki as a male lead. REVERSE THE TREND, people! DESTROY THE MEME! |

The blue-haired one is Kamina. The one with short blonde hair is Tamaki. Combine the two and you have our Haruki. |
