Anyway, I'm quite surprised that Beatrice regarded Kinzo so mockingly instead of like in the first letter where she referred to him as "Kinzo-sama". This makes me pity Kinzo even more... |

Actually, I like what they did with the asthma here. It wasn't really needed in the first arc, though it might have been better if they'd included it. As a way to save time though, there's absolutely nothing wrong with putting off that explanation until this episode.

If Umineko has lacked anything so far, it has been the development of most the characters themselves. So in turn, this episode was a nice start of adressing that problem for me as a development episode. Highly enjoyed it and I can see the mindrape coming as I'm finding it more difficult to convince myself that Beatrice doesn't exist (what with her human form appearing in the real world), unless that was just Kanon/Shannon's imagination that I just witnessed.

well, didn't R07 stated in his official site that this is a challenge to the readers "how long can you stand in your ground that witches don't exist" (or something to that effect)?
judging from the content of this episode, the loop holes had been covered up one by one, as in it's harder to find a counter argument against magic. I will enjoy the belief-crushing experience that will come later on, and hopefully R07 will not disappoint me.

The show took a detour back in time and gave an interesting look at the characters' relationship. Emo Kanon was just lol and hard to take seriously. I was left wondering of the relevance of this episode to the whole story, and it's keeping me watching and wondering of the nature of Beatrice's abilities. I'd rate it as an 8/ 10. This is a good direction to take the series in, as before I felt no attachment to most of the characters; they just happened to be people that died.
edit: The cosplay was pretty funny.

Ah, much better than the first five. Better balance and pacing... and I guess now that the intro is over, it's the "relationship" arc this time. I liked this episode. They're actually starting to show more realistic emotions. They seem more believable.
-Shannon is so cute! And does anyone have a hard time seeing George without imagining he's Tohno Shiki or Mikiya? Same voice actor, same personality, and same looks geez. I love this pairing, but they'll probably get ripped apart like Eva and her husband. Bleh. -Eva's back, and her voice is still sexy as ever! So why did she have to ruin it with that nasty jab at Shannon? As far as I'm concerned, she's Beatrice's twin. Similar looks, similar voice, and they both have that Lol I troll you attitude. I like these two. -Kanon... what's your problem? ._. Poor Jessica. Also, I'm finally convinced that Kanon's actually a guy. I read several people referring to him as "he" but didn't believe it until after he died in the first arc. I always thought they were the Hisui and Kohaku of Umineko. Quote:

^ Lol I actually never thought of George as Mikiya... not to mention him as shiki is just... weird
and yeah, the asthma issue was handled quite well - it didn't need to show up in the 1sr arc - and I laughed when it appeared here because of what was happening nice job DEEN

Hmmm a 5/10 for me it was not very entertaining than the others episodes .
Well , The Romance between "Tools" and "Humans" . So Shannon broke the mirrror then Beatrice got her powers back . Its her fault lol . Well , she wanted a true love with George . Hmmm , its bother me . Who are Shannon and Kanon ? Just "tools" or they have some family etc ... and work in the island ? i mean , if they don't like their life they should leave ... Want more Battler vs Beatrice |

I could tell you what Shannon and Kanon really are but you really, really should have been able to figure out what they were just from what you are told in this episode:
(1) Only they can see Beatrice. (2) They are furniture and did not start out as human. They became human when they gained human emotions. (3) They are effectively enslaved by some power greater than themselves and have no free will and cannot escape from the island. (4) Beatrice is trying to help them fall in love with Ushiromiya children in order to break out of her own imprisonment. Well, have you figured out what they are yet? |

... So they're both high and hallucinating then? So when do we get to find out about the orphanage they both come from? I've got a few theories about that, but no real evidence to go on. |
