Since 4A cannot be a double digit and 4*E = xA, A can only be 0 or 2. If A = 2, E can only be 8 (so above x = 3) since 4*A + y = zE (here, y = z = 0). This also means that B can only be 0 or 1. If B = 1, D can only be 7 since 4*D + 3 = xB (here, new x = 3). This means that 4*B + 3 = xD (this x = 0), so C = 9 because 4*C + 3 = 3C. x*y = x times y, xy = double digit number with y in the ones place and x in the tens place. |

Well I suck at explaining things, that's why I refuse to tutor even basic math even though I could use the money.
Anyways, here's a simple one one: OTTFFSSEN_ What should be the next letter in this list that replaces the underscore? (Hint: it's a common thing to have kids do (or at least, I think it is)) |

Here's an interesting puzzle/test I tried some time ago:
SRAT: Self-Referential Annoying Test! 1) What is the answer to this question? a) A b) B c) C d) D e) E 2) Alphabetically, the difference between the answer to this question and the one after it are: a) the same b) 1 apart c) 2 apart d) 3 apart e) 4 apart 3) The number of questions in this test whose answers are vowels are: a) 4 b) 3 c) 2 d) 1 e) 0 4) The only answer that appears once on this test is: a) C b) D c) E d) A e) B 5) The last question on this test whose answer is a consonant is: a) 5 b) 1 c) 4 d) 2 e) 3 I got the answer before but I just forgot it at the moment. It isn't very difficult =) Last edited by innominate; 2007-12-24 at 12:20. Reason: formating |

Here are three for now
You're the pilot of an airplane that travels form New York to Chicago - a distance of 800 miles. The plane goes 200 miles an hour, and it makes one stop for 30 minutes. What's the pilot's name? Can you arrange for Jane to stand behind Lee and Lee to stand behind Jane at the same time? Is it legal for a man to marry his widow's sister? First one is easy, second two are a little harder. Will post more later.

Ok, three more.
There are 10 black stockings and 10 white stockings in a drawer. If you reach into the drawer in the dark, what is the least number of stockings you must take out before you are sure of a pair that matches? A kangaroo is at the bottom of a 30-foot well. Each day he jumps up three feet and slips back two feet. At that rate, when will he reach the top? A rope ladder is hanging over the side of a ship. The ladder is 12 feet long, and the rungs are one foot apart. The lowest rung is resting on the top of the ocean. The tide rises four inches an hour. How long would it take before the first four rungs of the ladder are underwater?
