Fairy Tail Anime Episode Discussion Thread [Episode 165 and Onward]

let me tell you guys... you are still getting used to the new animation. the opening and ending are great after all. as a manga reader i can say that this arc if it is continued to be animated as it is now, will likely be my favorite arc i have seen up until now. it has an incredible story / plot. it will all kick in soon enough. i like this one more than the first one. the other thing to think about is that they changed some major things about producing it, so it will take them a few episodes to get used to the new style. this is way better than episode 1-20 of fairy tail, and the parts im guessing you find tedious now, wont be tedious anymore once you realize why they were made that way in the first place to make the later part of the arc that much better. trust me, the arc gets way better over time.

I don't know what people are bitching about, this animation is better than the old one. The only thing I don't like right now are the small time villain.

In some ways I do like the art style of the last 'season' more. But at the same time getting used to the new one and it's not bad. Just a matter of the animation quality being at a good level when this arc reaches its biggest fights.

Regardless the story is keeping me pulled in and I'm enjoying it. These last few episodes have been pretty good and this struggle with the executioners has been entertaining.

old anime was good but compared with the new one i was very bad, their have a lot of downtime with horrible animations and that was one the reason mashima changed the studios, his fans asked for a better animation because the old studio started to work too much lazy and does a lot of crap animation specially in the starry sky arc anime filler, when for the first time their need to work full for themselfs, their did a lot of anwfull animation.

i like the old ft more because of the plot and characters but many times i really hated how many times looked more like instead of improve the animation quality over the years their just make "worse" i can say who many earlly episodes where much better animated than many later episodes.

the old anime team only started to work better near the end after mashima or kodansha "open" more their money bag and take the "whip" to make the anime studio "awaken" and work.(in the last 5 episodes).

another thing mashima changed to this type of anime because a lot of fans praised the movie animation quality, their said was much, much better than current anime and he just hear what their asked.

Maybe I'm slow today but what's the major error with this one? I mean it could be drawn better and I don't like the eyes of Erza and Juvia, but I've gotten used to that since tons of anime draw the eye being seen behind hair. Though that'd be the major issue I guess.

Interestingly they only adapted about nine pages this episode and the pacing was better then the previous two episodes, which adapted about a chapter and a half and a chapter worth of pages. Go figure.

Looks like they are going back to adapting two chapters an episode again, at least judging by the preview. Which seems to lend credence to the notion they slowed down the pace here because the Executioners battle ended too quickly and easily in the manga.

Pretty enjoyable episode overall. Only really strange thing was how long it took Mira to get serious there. Wasn't like she didn't show off her take-over earlier anyways. No shocker she won in the end there. Wendy's was also pretty reasonable since healing was her primary magic before she finally started to fight herself.

Overall showdown with those executioners was pretty good. Took a few episodes, but was time well spent I think.

Only Gazille's face came out right. Also, Erza's collar is misaligned with her neck.

hmm their adapted 11 episode (300-310) in 8 episodes really a very slow pace with this pace really not too soon anime will catch manga again(at last for one to 2 years).

So.... much..... FILLER! This should've been over with forever ago... seeing them struggle against scrubs is so painful to watch. It's like 1 chapter for 2 episodes slow.

^I agree, especially the episode where Lucy and Yukino got their keys and fought against that "Tai" guy. It would've been bearable had the filler scenes been funny, but gaaah. Too much craziness. And Lucy's spirits disappoint once again (especially Cancer, he's just too useless).

Honestly, what happened to Fairy Tail?
This season/continuance is nowhere near the quality of previous season.
Something is off here, but can't quite figure out what.
The focus of the story is jumping all over the place.
Wish that would stop that 'cause it's getting annoying.

I think the issue is that there throwing in too much fillers in the fights. And those switches to the tournament when Natsu and co is struggling against the scrubs was bad.

Its understandable why there doing it......they don't want to catch up to the source too quickly. But its suffering. While they were making one part entertaining, the other areas they jumped to they just made them struggle more in the fight to keep the pacing.

Most of the fight filler that was put in, if it wasn't played for comedy, was just making it a one sided beat-down. And overall, its dragged out too long.

Spoiler for plot:

Final day of Grand Magic Games!
Battles on the street are coming to an end as well.
It was fun watching Erza fight ^^
Damn, those girl were for real.
No hesitation whatsoever.
That fight was the best part of the episode!
The ending offered an interesting surprise.
That should offer an intriguing plot twist.

As expected, the pace picked back up with episode 184, which they did quite the nice job with.
