Some 'new' suggestions in the darker sort of anime, mh?

I guess i'm looking again, aye. Looking for some not yet known Dark-Anime stuff. I've tried to find my old thread with this theme but it seems like it's already gone. And no, i don't mean any slashing or hentai-stuff. More sort of umm.. depressing, dreary - optical as well as the story, well, especially the story i'd say. Eh, and of course i do not like the typcial 0815-characters or such greenly-"the world is suuuuch a great place (and pisses on his/her short while saying this)".
I assume i already know the common stuff, well, and the not-so-common contingently also.
That would be, so far:
Berserk, Texhnolyze (ya, prolly wrong), Le portrait de petitcosette, Blood, Vampire Hunter (D), that thingy 'bout a bloodsucking boy & his sisters (geez, forgot the name) .. and i bet tons of movies/series i've forgot to mention now

Aw, and i really-really would appreciate a non-tawdry ending, well, a sad end would be the best, aye.
I know, i'm sort of pretentious, umm.

Thank you.

Full Metal Alchemist (obvious choice)

Gilgamesh (Have only seen a couple eps, but it's dark as hell)

Ergo Proxy (highly suggested, the animation and settings are quite gloomy and dark)

Hellsing (another obvious choice)

Serial Experiments Lain (Dark feel like some eps of Texhnolyze that I've watched, but otherwise and incredible mind-trip and great series IMO)

Boogiepop Phantom (It will screw with your brain man and it's dark and depressing a whole lot)

-i rerecommend ergo proxy.
-elfen lied might have some ecchi scenes and some comedy lighthearted one, but all in all it is a serieous dark drama with a great sad story.
-GunGrave is what you are really looking for. it plays in a near future poor town where criminal rate is high and street fights are nothing special and money is rare. Its the story of to friends growing up, getting their other friends killed by some jerks and joining the mafia, rising up the ladder, getting rpffesional untill they are rather old and everything goes wrong and falls apart. its so sad when they meet again. Its simply the sad and dark, yet realistic but still supernatural story of two friend growing up and joining the mafia. Really a mature master piece.

Hitsuji no Uta is a vampire story. Very dark and mysterious. You'll probably enjoy it.

I definitely agree. This is my favorite anime of all time. Not only does it bring an archetypical example of a vampire, it also is a beautiful romance full of love and sacrifice.

Rurouni Kenshin - Tsuiokuhen
Night Walker
Devilman Lady
Karas
Kemono Zume (first episode was just released, looks promising)
xxxHolic (not too dark, but I love this show)
Ayakashi - Japanese Classic Horror (as was recommended by someone, I only watched the last three episodes which are a stand alone story... it was quite good)

When it comes to darkness in anime, the TV series of Vampire Princess Miyu is very difficult to beat. (The OVAs are better, but not quite so dark.)

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is pretty dark - don't let the first episode fool you.
