Keep in mind that RAINBOW takes place during the post WWII reconstruction period where the rules and regulation still weren't quite in place to protect the democratic rights of adolescent and young adults in juvenile detention centers. Of course there are still abuses even now, but the oversight then was nothing compared to what it is now if it really even existed in a functional capacity.

Spoiler for ep11:
Btw, why are we talking in spoilers? If the episode has aired it's ok to talk about it openly. Anyway... My fav moment of the entire series so far was Baremoto's monologue when he was being chased during Sakuragi's escape, about why they call him Baremoto. Imo he's by far the most interesting character, and the one with the most development. My second fav moment was Joey putting Ishihara and Sasaki in their place. To see the originally meek and sensitive Joey strutting his stuff and talking down to those malicious criminals was gratifying in a very fanservicey kind of way. Soldier has proven to be the coolest character by far in my eyes. He's the most composed, most rational, as well as being amongst the most physically and mentally tough. Truly the ideal soldier. |

Jesus, episode 11 was just excruciating to watch.
Sakuragi isn't even a super developed character but all this shit with Sasaki and Ishihara is really getting to me. Btw, does anyone know how many volumes they covered already? Last edited by Goty; 2010-06-24 at 00:47. |
