Quick FAQ

• What? Was January 2005 really the most recent backup available?
  Yes it is, sorry. I guess the server admin put a little too much trust in the remote backup server.
  While that remote backup server would have worked fine if the forum server merely had some
  kind of hardware failure, the server possibly being hacked wasn't taken into account.
  The January 2005 backup is really the most recent one available.
  
  Arguable I (GHDpro) should have insisted on getting my own backups more often, which I did
  during 2004, but kinda slacked off on asking for during 2005. Needless to say the server admin
  will pass backups to me more frequently from now on.
  
  
• What's with the old forum banners?
  The banners you see now are from the 2004 Christmas/Winter contest. Since it's about the same time of
  the year again, we thought it would be fitting to leave them and not restore the more recent forum banners.
  
  
• Hey, no ads on the forum anymore! Are they gone for good?
  No, they'll be added again shortly. They're just temporary removed to not distract from the other links.
  
  
• Some images look odd. Like the "forward pm" button (etc). What's up with that?
  That problem is known and is still being worked on.

Fixed. You should be able to upload avatars now.

The transload avatar by entering a URL feature is permanently disabled btw.

This feels strange....I was very active here back in January so it all looks familiar but so much has changed since then.

If I wake up tomorrow it it really is January 2005 and I have to go to my old job, I'll just hang myself

That's a classic vBulletin v3.0.x -> v3.5.2 upgrade error: it's a new option in v3.5
that's disabled by default. And oddly as admin I seem to be exempted from it.

But I've now turned it back on of course.
