Deep Anime

I think that would be the best way to put it... examples would be better.

What in my mind i consider "deep":

Pale Cocoon
Mushishi (For some reason >.>)
The Melcholony of Sazuimi Hauruhi (Typos in there probably)
Ergo Proxy
Paranoia Agent ( <3 Luff')
Welcome to the NHK (Edit)

I really don't know the proper term so I just use the word "deep", I may be wrong there.

Also a thing with me is that I tend to lose interest in longer series. (Naruto, Bleach etc.)

So put that way my lengths would be ~40-50 Eps. per series.

Also I enjoy OVA's

Thanks for the help. Rawr.

Eureka seveN gets kinda deep, thats 50 eps., Evangelion is one of the classic "deep" animes, .hack//SIGN could be considered deep, although you wouldn't be able to tell from the begining of the series Planet ES turns into a very serious and thought provoking series. You should go try those.

Haibane Renmei
Serial Experiments Lain
-deep as in psychological (Lain is much more extreme on this)

Juuni Kokuki
Hachimitsu to Clover
Seikai no Monshou
Kino no Tabi
-some intelligent anime from various genres (i guess?)

Trigun
Noir
-just cuz I feel like recommending them (and I do think they are on the 'deep' side of things...)

There's a manga series that I recommend, but the anime of it takes out almost everything that made the manga deep and exciting. The Ayashi no Ceres manga is deep and has so much. The couple has sex, elopes, has a child. Their is lots of death and the couple faces obstacles like memory loss after sex, he's supposed to kill her while he is dating her, she becomes pregnant with his child, it's a very deep manga, but the anime takes out almost everything. The manga is really good, the couple gets together early on. Their are five sex scenes between the couple. The anime takes out everything.

I would also recommend you Honey & Colver.

Personally I really enjoyed Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou in which the alternance of funny/deep scenes is about the same than in Honey & Clover.

In a different genre, as orion said, you can also try the Ghost in the Shell series and movies.

Stellvia Of The Universe

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien

The manga Ayashi no Ceres is deep, but not the anime. The manga is 14 volumes and really good, but the anime takes otu everything. Only read the manga.

The manga Mars deals with romacne, dating, sex, rape, engagement, living together, suicide, eloping, marriage, lots of mature issues.

my suggestions for you are gungrave, honey and clover, rahxephon, serial experiments lain and maybe gilgamesh.
But as for another super deep and awesome OVA you gotto watch "voices of a distant star" or hoshi no koe which is the japanese name.
