Interesting. JC staff might be blending the spin-off and continuing storyline together. It seems scenes from the novel and the spin-off characters are present in this episode. Will have to wait for the subs before I can say anything further.
The art style and animation has changed noticeably; some for the worse, some for the better, but mostly for the better. I did notice Ryuji looked "fiercer" than usual in the beginning with his thicker eye edges. Seems like a strongly narrative episode. Though the happenings should be obvious enough for the novel readers, I will wait for subs before I rate it. But overall, seems pretty solid. |

Round and round we go, man this is going no where fast. Ami needs more screen time and development! They seem to be some what excluding her or make it seem so alot. Ryuuji dislike scale keeps going up, just can't seem to like him when you have to keep watching Ami with a depressed expression.

I'm hearing I might get some bonus Sumire time this ep.... always a joy. Be interesting to see if the latter half of the series slows down a bit to let us relish the interactions of the gang.

I liked this episode the most since more meat put into the characters, Ami is actually depicted having jealousy streak this time when comes to Ryuji and Taiga issue. The novel is somewhat ambiguous on this but the anime writers seem to decide to explore her personal feelings towards Ryuji more instead of playing the mediator role. Kitamura is shocked over a big news which foreshadows a big story arc later, Taiga is more mellowed around Ryuji but still retain her mean stripes if provoked. But she seems to find comfort in his home and his mom's bosom.
There is a moment where Minorin and Ryuji shared an intimate moment which handled pretty well here. Overall, this is one of the best episode to date. Less joke and more story. PS: And the young kid got it rough. Poor bastard.

Considering he is basically cursed with bad luck that often involves physical harm to his person (this coming from the spinoff chapter in volume 2 of the Toradora light novels), I think he considered it worth it. (Wait, would that be considered a spoiler? I don't know Japanese so I don't know if he mentioned it when he was talking to Taiga and Ryuuji).
Also, was that Mako voicing Sakura? |

It would be better to watch one every week. This way, you have more time to think about and appreciate an episode before the next one comes up. I was watching some full-series anime on youtube, and didn't fully understand it because I was too busy watching one after the other.
It's a relief to see that the show still retains quite a bit of the humour. Looks like the gloomy part won't set in so soon. |

Also that'll mean my correction of my first impression of ep 14 from the preview. I initially had low expectations of this episode. Shame on me though

Liked this ep a lot.
The way they blend in the Spin-off and make it connect with the main story completely exceeds my expectation of this ep. It may seem not much happened compared to the last few episodes, but it gives you the feel of a "new beginning" in terms of relationship of the characters. Especially the words of Kitamura, Ami and Minori at the end, they were related to the Palm-top tiger legend, yet at the same time foreshadow the events that are going to come. A few changes to the original material but wonderful adaptation and execution indeed.
