Anyway, as Cirno (or her silhouette, at least) was shown in the eyecatch (and Rumia was as well), care to speculate on who might voice them? I, for one, think Chiwa Saito might do a good job for Cirno (on the other hand, there might be other roles she'd be better suited for). |

I saw the 'review' from Sankaucomplex as well and about the 6 finger part. Thats not a mistake its just bad motion animation. Take your R2 Ps2 game box over there from the shelf and hold it in 1 hand then start taping your fingers small to large fast on the back of it. See how your hand contorts and starts to cross fingers? Well thats what she was doing while the other girl was talking to her during the scene maybe to show impatience or lack of attention?
Myself, I wish I could draw a whole set of scenes as well as they did. |

I enjoyed the 1st episode a lot. Storytelling is distinctively touhou, and the VA choices were fantastic (sans Sakuya. I hear too much Maria of HnG). I didn't mind the character designs too much, it captures most of the important elements of each character anyway. Although the chanting before spellcard use needs to go; sounds waaay too cheesy.
As for professional anime, I'm on principle opposed to the idea (copyright and licensing nightmare), but if I really had to choose, I'll go for Hal Film Maker. Slice-of-life touhou FTW!

Indeed. As much as I'd love to see some well animated danmaku action, the only proper way to do it would be to get a studio to animate all the chapters of the shoot'em up saga (following the correct order of course), which would take quite a while, especially if released as an OAV.
On the other hand a slice-of-life Touhou sounds easier to pull off and they might still be able to do some introspection on the most prominent characters as well. As someone else said in this thread, FlipFlop's doujins would be a good reference material for this purpose. |

For The Win? Whaaaaaatttttt.
I mean, I think it makes more sense to just animate the danmaku and what have you. Slice of life where nothing really happens other than the girls go mildly wild on each other? Blah. I'm no Touhou fan, but I'd rather play the game. Granted, the backgrounds and the CG was nice.. meh |

Well, at the very least, Ithekro, we know that Rie Tanaka can indeed do the right sort of voice for combat-mode Sakuya, and hopefully Maikaze has listened to fan feedback on the episode and used the feedback to affect how they'll be doing the next episode (and, hopefully, Japanese fans also want combat Sakuya).

It will take an established studio to do even attempt danmaku, even toned-down danmaku ala Immaterial and Missing Power/Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.

CHADO's works are not a good reference for an adaptation, as they essentially take the 'action' segment of the Touhou games and turn it up full throttle. FLIPFLOPS (or heck, Mizutataki) is a better reading. Again, it is too much to ask a fully animated danmaku duel (or game, since the Danmaku Duel rules are codified as such) from a fan effort. Even something on the level of IaMP/SWR is going be beyond as small as Maikaze's production.

I would appear that Sakuya intended to "deal with the problem" but was stopped because her master had another idea. She actually had the right look when she phased back into time to quiet "Patchy", but returned to "friendly maid" to calm her. I imagine they will end up working together...as the alternative is a 3 vs 3 battle in the basement.
