hmmm do I rezz this thread or create a new one? anyway hip hop is becoming way too dancy and pop these days. I need hip hop heads to be listening to the likes of Lupe Fiasco and J Cole, theyre the future generation of rap legends. Not this soulja boi / lil wayne shit I hear so much on the radio.

heres some of the tracks I've been listening to latley

Just had to clarify. A lot of what gets airplay is garbage but there are even more artists creating quality hip hop music.

here's what i noticed...

the rap scene is like the late night anime scene in japan... especially in the last decade.

both pander to the L.C.D. and they make easy money... and advancing both the medium to the "intellectual level" is in the backburner

Again, that's the case with the mainstream rap scene. But well said and I agree.

I can occassionally listen to hip-hop if the beat is nice. Most of the time I tend to stay away from it because the lyrics for most are just pointless and silly.

Mainstream is so crap because it must pass through aot of gate keepers in the industry. These gate keepers don't want you thinking about injustice in society or the flaws of life. They want you to spend your money on gucci and go out every saturday clubbing. Critical thinking = End of consumerism.
