It's not about the word "vampire" that Gasper is going to be the lead for this mini-arc. Its because its personal and critical to Gasper's development. He got disowned and nearly killed because of those same vampires, and he still fears them somewhat. Sitting in the background supporting Issei is not an option.

Just like Kiba was the lead (of sorts) in his own arc when he had to overcome his trauma because of his friends killed in that experiment, Gasper must do the same.

Ise will fight a main villain, but it won't be someone related to Gasper's past.

mmmmm. I never think that, but it can be a posibility. But i think that in the end of this vampire war Issei will do that the vampires join in the peace of the other fractions.

Well, it pretty much depends ... on what kind of personality - general portrayal the rest of the vampire is going to have. After all, if most of their members are going to have a similar mentality as the one, who appeared in volume 14, then I don't see them, joining any of the other fractions ... even if Ise and the rest of the Gremory group, help them to "resolve" their current "war".

Wasn't that the whole point of this arc? Facing a situation where both factions are potential enemies? Neither side is good, pure blood vampires are racist, prejudicial and just plain jerks, so the Gremory Team have to choose the lesser evil. That's why I don't understand this infatuation with making a leader of a vampire side fall for Issei, the author purposely showed us a messenger, not nobility, so we can see how the vampires are, they are portrayed as callous, calculating and just shy of evil for a reason. Valerie aside I don't see any reason why Issei would care about the affections of Vamp anyway, they made a terrible first impression for him. Personally, I think this arc is going to the most intricate out of all of them, there is probably going to be more political and social themes being touched on so the echi might be toned down.

Do you guys think Kiba is going to be enough to protect Rias in case something goes wrong? Potentially the author might be getting them out of the picture so as to develop Gasper and some of the other girls that need it. What do you guys think?

He should be more than enough to protect Rias and Rias is pretty strong to take care of herself. Honestly, I don't see anything harm being done to them or them being threaten by either of the Vampire Factions. If any harm is done to them by either of the Vampire Factions it would mean instigating a war with the Devils.

I had the assumption that both factions of the Vampire race may be enemies for a while now. I found it strange that no one mentioned it until I had to. All your points are straight on, and I agree with all of them. Still, remember, the author of High School of DXD is not a normal author so expect strange stuff to happen even an high tier enemy fall in love with our perverted Protagonist.

I know how strong Kiba is and Rias just got a new power-up but 2 high class devils can still be taken down by 10-20 middle class ones. Honestly Kiba just had a whole volume focused on him and Rias before that, I see them being either overwhelmed in a fight or held prisoner by waiving the alliance request over there heads. The author stated that this coming arc will focus Gasper as the main with Ross, Xenovia and Ravel being developed more. Seeing as how Ravel has been getting some time to shine the rest are probably getting some action as well.

Me too, I guess some folks just read the volumes on face value and don't try to actually understand what is going on or what events mean to the story as a whole. Issei was demeaned and belittled in front of his loves with absolutely no way of defending himself, the scene in the bath with Ravel speaks volumes to how his pride was hurt, his mind was elsewhere and confided in her his insecurities. He didn't even care that she was naked other than stating the obvious, just shows how bad Isseis pride was hurt, for someone like our main character that alone indicates a great deal.

Regarding the question if Kiba is going to be enough to protect Rias, personally I think that it depends on what is going to actually happen during their visits to the opposing vampire fractions.

While Kiba and Rias are definitely strong enough to deal with any normal situations, ... after a few high ranking members of the "reformed" Khaos Brigade gets involved in this conflict - which, I believe is quite likely, I see them having no other choice but to call the rest of the Gremory group for some support in dealing with this situation.

Although, I hope that Rias and Kiba won't be taken prisoner / kidnapped, since I think that kind of plot is a little too cliche, and I definitely think that the author can use some more interesting plot point to bring the rest of the Gremory group to Rias and Kiba's location.

My prediction for this arc is that Rias does something to make both factions openly act hostile so the blame is on them, then Ise and Kiba wipe the floor with them. Meanwhile, Gasper grabs his friend and they ditch the whole shebang. Sirzechs later pays for their honeymoon.

Never meant to imply that Rias and Kiba can't handle themselves I just had noticed that the two people going to the vampire homeland are the two people who just had major character development, so I figured maybe something will keep them out of the main story for a volume so as to focus on Gasper. Like how the author did to Xenovia, Irina, Ross and Gasper during the battle against the hero faction through to Isseis resurrection.

And for Rias and Akeno to graduate into a university, which from what I remember was mentioned, in one of the side stories, to be pretty close to the Academy, that Ise and the rest of the second years go to.

Although, it makes me interested on the topic of who is going to become the official "club president" of the Occult Research Club ... since I doubt that Rias can "officially" keep that position after she graduates from High school.

Oh, yeah. You're right.

If I remember correctly, Ise has been a demon/dragon-hybrid for almost a year.

And there's so many problems that has surfaced ever since Ise became a Servant of Rias.

The engagement, the 3 Great Alliance, Rating Games(Sona, Diodora, and Sairaorg), Khaos Brigade activity , Battle with Loki, Kyoto Incident, Ise's Death and Return from a devil to Humanoid Dragon, Battle with the Evil Dragons and remnants of KB and next the Vampire Arc.

All of that happen during the course of his 2nd year of high school.

What's going to happen next during his third year?

More trouble is brewing. This I can tell for sure.
