LOL yes that is exactly what I meant. Well mainly the setting of aliens living among us (if the opening is any indication) and how the aliens really look....

Actually thinking about it, it could also be Doctor Who without the Doctor.

Does this mean the world is nearly going to end in every episode?

I got a MIB feeling out of it myself, especially with the anime stating that tons of aliens live on Earth and it's only the humans who haven't figured this out yet.

I was quite hesitant about picking this up, as it looked like something potentially too weird for my tastes, but i am very glad i did - the episode was nothing short of a pleasant surprise. Retro feel or not, the character interactions were amusing (the alien guy was surprisingly cheeky ... and it worked) , the jokes actually funny and entertaining, and there even seems to be a plot they apparently won't beat around the bush with. In an otherwise rather pale season, this came as a very welcome breath of fresh air. If they can keep this level of entertainment going, i will be a very happy camper. I can already foresee the show going under the radar though ... a shame, but what can you do. Looks like this season's sleeper hit indeed.

Just watched the first episode, probably the only anime this season i am going to continue to watch

It's funny and has potential to have a good plot

The author of the original manga is the same person who wrote Hunter X Hunter and Yuyu Hakusho, so I doubt hes being ignored..

Heh, that was my favorite part, too.

The show did a pretty good job of balancing the humor and serious moments in the first episode. I haven't read the manga or anything, but it does feel like there could be a pretty intriguing story here lurking beneath the laughs.

I think the mix of comedy and seriousness is the show's charm point. Just when you think it's getting serious it gets funny, and just when you think it's getting silly it gets serious again.

I didn't even realize there were references in the names.

Side note, is there any reason why "baka" isn't translated in the subs? I know that almost every anime fan knows it means idiot but, since it has a direct translation, I was wondering why it wasn't translated.

Shiroth Beautiful fighter. Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: England, UK Age: 37	Spoiler for Episode 02: The alien side of the story really kick starts in this episode, as we learn quite a bit. It all leads upto one hell of a cliffhanger. This whole episode was pretty funny actually, so i'm glad the comedy side of the show is still very strong. Same goes for the characters as well. I like how when he's being serious he'll change into comedy. So he is indeed a prince and his people have come to take him back. So that machine they used to show his pet was actually a distress call? Miho was helpful, it's good that she knows a lot, probably because of her father. She also was rather funny and thinks Yukitaka was a former punk. nice cliffhanger at the end. looks like next week we have a fight on our hands __________________ My Anime List
