I heard they had trouble at the Venezuela ballots when someone by the name of "Superman" tried to cast his vote.

Again, let me repeat myself for the third time.
By your logic, "banning assault rifles didn't stop the Columbine Highschool Massacare. Therefore, it must be pointless to ban those types of assault rifles, he/she is going to do it anyways."

You don't seriously think there's no flaw to this logic, do you?
Regarding the Akihabra incident it is pointless indeed to suddenly say we are going to tighten the control of knifes. It may prove some use in the future or discourage people from using a <insert knife>. But for the Akihabra incident i would of rather see them say something "we are gone start a campaign to make people more aware and report fishy situations"

To solve a problem, you have to find the source of the problem. Right? And tighten the control on knifes in this case is just not the right one imo. I'm not saying it is totally useless. But this doesn't call for it.

By the person logic who said that knife control should be tighten, cars control should too. He used that as a weapon too. The person just missed the core of the problem and just said something that was most obvious to him/her. I find that a really bad thing for a news company/reporter/representative.

So i'm not saying any ban is pointless, and we should rely on the individual common sense. What i'm trying to say is that banning knifes because of the Akihabra incident is just a load of crap. And that they should look in to something else instead of this hardly relevant source of problem.

I think we dragged this on long enough, and we both made our view clear on this

SYDNEY, Australia — A judge halted a drug conspiracy trial Tuesday after some jurors were found to have been playing the puzzle game Sudoku while evidence was being given.

Sydney District Court Judge Peter Zahra ended the trial Tuesday for two men facing a possible life sentence for drug conspiracy charges. The trial had been running for 66 days and had cost taxpayers an estimated $950,000.

The judge was alerted after jurors were observed writing vertically, rather than horizontally. It had been assumed they were taking notes.

"Yes, it helps me keep my mind busy paying more attention," the jury foreman told the judge Tuesday. "Some of the evidence is rather drawn out and I find it difficult to maintain my attention the whole time, and that doesn't distract me too much from proceedings."

Jurors in the trial are anonymous, and no action can be taken against them for the puzzle playing.

The foreman admitted to the judge four to five jurors were playing puzzle games for up to half the time the trial had been going.

"Jurors are sort of the judges of the facts and it's very disappointing they weren't giving our clients a fair trial," said Robyn Hakelis, a lawyer for one of the defendants.

A new trial is expected to begin in a few weeks.
The jurors must be quite good at multitasking if they can actually solve a Sudoku and at the same time pay attention the the trial.

The BBC was quite late in picking up this particular piece of news. It first surfaced in Chinese media late last year, it seems.

I'm not sure if you can use a Google translator on this website, but check it out to see the detailed advice for naming Olympic-year babies. There are actually several sensible suggestions and Aoyun (奥运) isn't among them, as far as I can tell. After all, it's a horribly embarrassing name, and 4,000 Aoyuns out of a population of 1 billion people is probably a good indication of how "popular" the name actually is.

That said, I'm very curious about which characters are used for Civilisation, Space Travel and Defend China (卫国...?). Build The Nation would be 建国, I believe, which isn't that bad, really. It sounds almost poetic (if you're punch drunk ).

Civilisation 文明
Space Travel 漫游
Defend China 衛華
Build Nation 建國

Parents there may need to be careful of what patriotic names they choose for their babies in such a police state as the PRC, as this following joke illustrates:

During the Cultural Revolution, there was this devout Party believer who was fortunate to have triplets. To show his love and loyalty for the Party, he named his three sons Aiguo (愛國 - Love Nation), Aimin (愛民 - Love the People), Aidang (愛黨 - Love the Party).

A few months later, he got persecuted by the Red Guards, as someone figured out by putting his three sons' names together, he was really professing his love for the Kuomintang (國民黨) regime of Taiwan, and hence a Taiwanese spy.

Here's the equation the Red Guards deduced for his "secret allegiance"

愛國+愛民+愛黨 = 愛 (國+民+黨) = 愛國民黨

he should be prosecuted for giving his kids ridicules names like that. All parents should prosecuted for child abuse when they give their kids a ridicules name.

is the world tired of saying never again yet?

Quote:
The men who pulled up in three white pickup trucks were looking for Patson Chipiro, head of the Zimbabwean opposition party in Mhondoro district. His wife, Dadirai, told them he was in Harare but would be back later in the day, and the men departed.
An hour later they were back. They grabbed Mrs Chipiro and chopped off one of her hands and both her feet. Then they threw her into her hut, locked the door and threw a petrol bomb through the window.

It's a bit of a simplistic view. Who is "the world" and what does it represent?

The day the world is peaceful is the day Jesus returns for the final time and the world ends. That's what I believe, anyway.

New news is old news. The regime of Robert Mugabe is a known brutal dictatorship. It's amazing how much one madman can do to destroy a country.

But what can we do about it? As long as South Africa refuses to acknowledge the atrocity, the West can hardly intervene...and it's doubtful if the West's intervention will even help in the first place.

Yes, because the Democrats totally say that.

The comments section below that article is really pathetic. Blame, blame, blame, thrown around everywhere. You can count the catchwords with just your fingers: Iraq, Oil, UN, America, Eurosocialists, etc. Don't go down that path, please.

I noticed that, too. I barely bothered skimming it because it is so obviously biased that it's hardly informative. Objectivity would make it a lot more believable.

I don't care if genocides happen, as long as my people aren't the ones doing it or being the victims.

So, what's the use of "Never again"?

Also, mind if you use capital letters in your title?
