err...What? They don't share the same "universe" and are set in alternate worlds. Fate and Tsukihime* didn't share the same universe either. It's just that Zeltrech can go around different dimensions with his sorcery.

I second your recommendation though. KnK movies were epic and anything by Nasu is a worthy read.

Shiki and Akiha aren't related by blood. But it doesn't matter. You're missing out on some really good stories. If you can, you should try and get over your hate for incest - especially in fiction. Even IRL, what other people do shouldn't bother you so much as long as they don't force it onto you, right? I would never participate in incest but who am I to disgrace those who do D:

Tsukihime is a package and skipping a route entirely will deny you the entire experience (and most definitely the epilogue). Also, Far side of the moon was a lot more emotionally involving than near side of the moon. You're really missing out on a lot more than you'd think.

Yes, I know they aren't blood-related but the part where things start heating up between them had her calling him Onii-chan throughout, which I thought was a little sick. After that, it just wasn't the same experience for me; I could live with Shinji x Sakura and Sakura x worms stuff in F/SN because it was supposed to be creepy, but here it's portrayed in a romantic way with a nod from the author.

My reasoning on this is the following: Can I go through with it til the end? Yes. I've seen and read worse examples in movies, internet and after all, real life. No brain bleach necessary, my sanity is still going strong. Is there a better, more enjoyable way to spend time in the world of fiction? Hell yes. I have no doubts Tsukihime is good, in fact I quite liked the grim, unique atmosphere I experienced through Arcueid's route and the story prior to it. And I liked Fate/stay night (the visual novel) a lot even with all the freakiness (and porn, which I'm not okay with). But I've never considered myself obliged to see/read everything from an author or a company just so I could feel better as a fan. And this is no Shakespeare, I'll live without the rest of Tsukihime lol.

Neko Arc (the main Neko Arc): Yuzuki Ryoka. TypeMoon role: Arcueid (Melty Blood and after).
Neko Arc Chaos (the black chain-smoker): Mr Nakata Jouji. TypeMoon roles: Araya Souren, Nrvnsqr Chaos (Melty Blood and after), Kotomine Kirei (and probably whatever main villian TypeMoon can come up with in the future. They are his fans after all...)
Neko Arc Destiny (the one with the pink hair): Tanaka Atsuko. TypeMoon role: Caster.
Neko Arc Bubbles(?) (the one that keeps nodding and not talking): Sakuma Kumi. TypeMoon role: Ciel.

I think TypeMoon has a policy of fixing one VA to one character and seldom (almost never) uses a VA for anyone else other than the character s/he is assigned to. The only exception is Mr Nakata. And maybe Saber Extra, though one can argue that that Saber and the main Saber are totally different (though visually similiar) characters.

And come to think of it... isn't this the first time Nanako is being voiced? =3

Maybe we have a different understanding of what "same universe" is. My understanding is that "same universe" means similar settings. It does not mean the characters from Fate,Tsukuhime and KnK would meet each other somewhere. The three stories are kind of coexist in the parallel worlds (not interfering).This is my understanding but your understanding is okay as well.

The ones that I noticed having a straight face or nonchalant look are Akiha, Len, Hisui, Nrvnqsr, Kotomine, Roa, Kuzuki, and maybe Ries, Sion and Caren as well.

No, we have the same understanding. Just that universe generally refers to universe and not settings. Parallel dimensions/universe/worlds is what they are set it. It's kind of a mess because people call the settings Nasuverse yada yada.

Yep it was just a suggestion. Tsukihime's far side of the moon is - objectively speaking, love for Ciel and Arc aside, - a lot better than near side in terms of writing, emotional engagement and pretty much everything. It's just like how you don't get anywhere near the real story of Fate until you get into Heaven's Feel. And it's your call but the stuff that Sakura went through was a lot sicker than a lover referring to her lover with her preferred tag. Humans are the ones who assign meanings to words and in any case, in no way is consensual sex between unrelated siblings sicker than repeated abusive rape of an adopted sibling. But whatever floats your boat.

Regarding the comparisons to Shakespeare etc. How many Shakespearean epics have you read through anyway? I don't suppose - and this is just an assumption, I apologize if I am wrong - that you have studied Shakespeare with anywhere near the diligence you follow anime with. So why exactly is Shakespeare that important to you over contemporary fiction again? Most people in the world today wouldn't really be able to relate to Shakespearean epics that much. Besides, a great many people make do without even hearing of Shakespeare - heck a great many make do without so much as learning to read. But that doesn't mean Shakespeare's works are anything less than what they are made out to be. They are great works of fiction - undoubtedly so - but that they are great should be a testimony to them and not an argument to belittle other works. Macbeth may be among the best works of fiction ever but in no way did I derive any less entertainment from Tsukihime than I did from it.

And if we were to follow this train of thought of "x isn't y so who cares" then the end result would be an ugly egoistical clash between different genres, languages and cultures of fiction. For the great Chinese works in the vein of "Journey to the west", "Water Margin", "The art of war" etc. are in no way inferior into any work from Shakespeare. Then we have stuff from the Indian subcontinent. Classics such as "Mahabharata", "Ramayana", "Meghaduta", "Abhigyan Sakuntalam" are by no means inferior - if not vastly superior - to anything ever produced in the west. And even within the west, we have the Greek plays and the Latin rhetoric not to mention brilliant authors in other vernacular languages. My point here isn't that Shakespeare is overrated but that his greatness shouldn't be used to belittle others especially when what is good is so subjective.

I for one would prefer never having to compare Shakespearean works with Visual Novels for their focus and their intentions and basically everything about them are different. You can say you like one better than the other but to use popular notions of how good a product is to belittle other products is ignorant. In my opinion at least.

I hope you didn't get me wrong. I am completely fine and dandy with your feeling disgusted with AkihaxShiki and your choice to spend time on something more worthwhile. In fact, I am quite jealous that you have access to something more worthwhile in the lands of fiction than far side of the moon of Tsukihime. But I just felt like sharing some thoughts about your choice of words to establish that Tsukihime isn't a must-read. Because nothing, not even Shakespeare, is. It's always a choice and I respect yours although I would still insist that you give far side of moon a chance if you so happen to afford some free time and feel adventurous enough to risk one quirky erotic sequence or two.
