The thing that amazed me about the first segment is that the owner of the South Wind actually managed to get a nervous sweatdrop out of Chizuru. I wasn't even aware that such a thing was possible (as shown by the (ahem) "inkstinctual" reaction to her in the second segment...).

Ika With a Question Mark 08 - The Squid Mafia Runs This Town
This is the advantage of comedy shows. Once they've established a rich world, it can be abused for fun and profit. So many flashbacks this episode. It's a good thing to see that the Invasion Club is still established, even if the robber thought it was a gang. Some great interplay in that scene. The second segment was very similar to Sanae's giving up of Ika herself back in the first season, but not as depressing. Still had Ika being driven out of her mind. Sanae was a pretty major player in every segment, actually. The third one is brimming with the potential for doujins, and captured the tense atmosphere really well. |

Just watched episode 7 and 8.
The Invasion Club is pretty developed for elementary school kids.. Koyomi looks hotter without the pigtails and glasses. Episode 8 was pretty boring to me other than the 1st segment with the robber. The episode played it off light-heartedly and for comedy, but its actually a really scary situation for Ika Musume...

This episode (8) was fun. I can't decide who is more dense: the burglar or Ika herself. Should've known Sanae installed those cameras in Eiko's house, rather than her own. Ika and Eiko's reaction was perfectly understandable(though how did she managed to do that without being seen?). The quitting shrimp bit was a throwback to Sanaa quitting Ika in season 1. That too didn't work (quite the contrary), so I knew this wouldn't work either. And it only helped fuel the notion that Ika is definitely not as smart as she takes herself for. Eiko must be quite the slave driver for having Ika work without a break. No wonder she passed out from heat exhaustion. Still, it was funny seeing Ika all paranoid about Sanae having her way with her when she was asleep.

Man, quitting shrimp must be really tough. Looks harder than quitting heroin, poor little Ika was hallucinating pretty quickly, and she looked like a mess.
In the last segment, it was nice to see that Sanae had her limits. She's always a gag character, but she got some development here, no matter how small.

Ika's reaction in the Home Alone sketch was sort of interesting as it relates to her perception of humans. She connected the old man to Chizuru, so she gets the concept of parents living with their kids. But she didn't connect the fact that he would also be Takeru and Eiko's father - does she not get the sibling relationship?
I was sort of hoping Chizuru would spill some exposition about their parents there, but alas no...

Have they had an episode yet were Ika tries to identify them all as siblings (and why are they siblings)? My memory if hazy if that one was animated or if I only read it in the manga.
