I found that to be surprising, that just came out of no where and I doubt that's their real mother.

Why wouldn't she be? I don't see the point in doubting character statements for no reason.

Has anyone seen how the Akēdia Katathlipsē looks like? To me, it looks like a sword.

Gah, what a way to end the first season, with a cliffhanger and a message saying that season 2 will be in the summer of 2012. Darn you for teasing us!

Overall, a good episode and quite an interesting anime. It had political views as well as unique characters, plenty of action and it's fair amount of fan service Looking forward to season 2

Anyone wondered why Sakai said that PA. ODA's primary force are called Five Great Peaks but there were actually 6 of them?

The novel said that the fourth great peak, Sasa and Maeda's two-man team occupy only one position. People sometimes call them 6 Demon Army <六天魔軍> as well. (p758, v1-B)

I felt a need to mention that so they can't accuse Sakai of not knowing how to count numbers.

Man Toori's expression at the very end was just

And that bgm when Horizon fired at that ship. Damn, makes me mad that the ost was delayed

So did Toori say the word 'defeat' on purpose so that Horizon can activate super drive or was it just a fluke?
Maybe Toori is infact far more intelligent than what everyone gives him credit for

Oh and...
Toori: I am sorry....that I couldn't make you horny.

Awesome! I can't wait for Season 2.. Toori rubbing Horizons ass evidently to break through and cause her to show emotion so she could really use the Deadly Sin was awesome.

Toori really maybe a pervert but really showed intelligence and made us realize why even though he is a pervert and was suppose to be a figurehead the others follow him. They saw what the others did not and would follow him into a world war. He debated with Horizon, a doll which is suppose to make no mistakes, and made her admit her true feelings.. He made her show some emotion and break down when wielding the Deadly Sin so she could actually reach the third level needed to survive.

In episodes 12 and 13 we got to see the real reason why they would follow Aoi Toori to the END OF THE WORLD and SAVE IT! He is just that type of person.. Him giving up sadness for life to get the power to save someone he cared about! How many others would commit to that?

That was a brilliant line.
This last ep was really awesome, didn't see that ending coming though, baseballs owning shields, and Toori is of course...naked.
Now to wait till Summer...gah

Yeah, Horizon's Level 3 safety lock requires her to activate her soul. Horizon doesn't know how to do that, but it seems Toori figured out how. He said that line, and the moment Horizon imagined Toori's face filled with despair upon defeat, that's where her emotion kicked in. In the novel, Horizon was also undergoing recollection of her father here.

I think TAN made a mistranslation here. The Level 3 lock hasn't been released yet at this point because it requires Horizon to activate her soul.

It was not until she cried (triggered lamention) that her OS acknowledged the activation and released the final lock.

Another thing worthy of mention. Since all these messages were displayed nearly in an instant, it's possible people have missed them. But a super powerful weapon like Lype Katarripsi needs an insane amount of fuel to fire. I found it interesting how Toori was fueling Horizon's DSA here with his power of happiness.

If they have gotten Innocentius' DSA of lust, who knows what those two will be doing at that night party. I'm pretty sure they'll not be sleeping in Blue Thunder, that's for sure.

Oh, yeah! That was the gold quote for this episode, and it was too bad Toorii couldn't retrieve that one. Had he done, then the party for those two wouldn't be taken at the Blue Thunder but somewhere else....

However, considering that the Blue Thunder's landlady turned out to be the Aoi siblings' mother and she taking an affection to Horizon, then chances would be nigh to permit those two kids being alone together without supervision.

What interested most for the thirteenth episode was first the awestruck question, as well as Toori comforting Horizon as the very first of her emotions brought out her dormant soul.

I won't be it's been quite the ride, because the ride is far from over and ended the season with quite a cliffhanger against Tres España warship ambush while Toorii looks on dumbfounded wearing NOTHING!!!

Horizon singing her song made the fight against the Eikomaru quite epic to Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon standards, if I may say.

And there's the thing with the P.D. OAD leaving their presentation card as well.

We're expecting great things forward to look on season two next summer, and I hope if Masazumi's able to negotiate "his" way with England, then Musashi'll have chances to form a strategic alliance with one of the most powerful factions of that world and that means more new allies and characters.

Ok. So, like Fate zero, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon ended at the middle of a cliffhanger to a very recently started arc so to me it's safe to judge that Horizon doesn't count as a finished show to this almost over season.

So I'll see you all next summer.

Oh my god Aoi Toori...this character....there are just no words. Highly amusing and fun ending. Fun show all around really and they set up the second season quiet nicely with teases for future characters. I'm wondering if the ODA faction is actually THE Oda faction and if we'll get to see the likes of Mitsuhide Akechi among others. I heard Katsuie (Shibata) mentioned so already it's starting to kind of look that way.

Characters in this show were great, from Adele and her armor just tanking shots in the most unlikely ways possibly to Horizon slowly regaining her humanity over the course of the series to Aoi and his idiot savant schtick, which never failed to slay me even up to that final "huh?". If I had to name any character that failed to stand out it was probably the blind chick. She didn't really do much other than give some back story on the Aoi sibling, but other than that it's amazing that every character was able to get their moment in the sun and stand out amongst this huge cast and in only 13 episodes at that. Most series struggle to handle a fraction of this casts size well, but then again Sunrise and various elements of this particular staff have been doing shows of this scope for ages so I guess I really shouldn't be that surprised.

So now it's the big wait till the next season to see exactly where things pick up. Aoi's got the gal, Musashi has earned the enmity of K.P.A Italia who are already back on their case by the end of this episode and there are new factions waiting in the wings like the ODA one. Really have no idea what to expect from next summer, but if it's anything like this it's going to be a fun ride and we won't need 3 slower paced opening episodes to set things up like we did this time so odds are they'll be able to pack in even more good times.

The last few parts are meant to be season 2's preview (at least the homepage as labeled as such), so it's not really intended to be a cliffhanger (but definitely was used as such).

The staff worked really hard for this anime,

なお、ホニメは、ED音楽が一般のアニメより10秒短い編集をされてます。そして次回予告の15秒も、ED 中に行っています。そうやって稼いだ25秒を、本編に追加しているので、実は25秒、長いアニメとなってい るんですな。
26 Dec via web

ED is shorter than other anime by 10 seconds. The 15-seconds preview is incorporated into the ED as well. By doing this, they got 25 extra seconds to squeeze in the story. So really every single episode is 25 seconds longer than most other anime's regular episodes.
Keep in mind Episode 9 and 13 are completely redrawn ED, Episode 5 and 13 also have no OP, and 5 also was missing ED completely in favor of plot pacing (if you think about it this way, then there are 4 EDs for a 12.5 episodes and sometimes with no preview). There are a lot of minor stuff that staff did to make the overall presentation better, as well. Really, when you add up all those little things, you can see the love and effort put into this series. Kawakami also tweeted that the team already began preparing for season 2 despite New Year coming up ... Horizon Production Committee for the win!

---

Related to the episode itself, one thing that I think many probably missed.

The guy sitting at the command center probably is , but not everyone died.

They're kinda like a suicidal team. The purpose was to entirely crash Eikomaru into Musashi kamikaze-style (hence why Innocentius going "are you going to give me back the ship"), but the front ship's ropes reduced their propulsion (and almost dragged it to the side), and they charged in again this time deciding to just nuke 'em. There are 4 ships in the air at the end.

1) Delivery cargo ship that Masazumi sent Naomasa to pick 'em up.
2) Eikomaru
3) Musashi
4) Futayo's ship that was supposed to accompanied KPA Italia back episode 4

There's a slight bug in the anime as Futayo is on a different ship from Horizon but is shown to still carry the DSA moments prior to Horizon landing.

Either way, I thought they animated the whole ship chase scene really well and is probably really hot blooded if you watch that part again. Old people in this series is quite hot blooded in general .

---

Season 2 might not be 24 episodes, since 2ch firmly believed that we'll get a season 3, so the team might just blast through season 2 to get all the juicy bits and go into season 3. I'm just saying this now so you guys don't get overly disappointed if season 2 does end up being 1 season only.
