What better than to metaphorically combine every despot of WW2, maybe more, into one ultimate Neuroid villain? And if one assumes that Neuroi were once a magical weapon of war turned loose, this can work. But it needs balls of steel and brains of Khrack.

Karlsland does indeed still have an Emperor, Frederick IV, and an imperial council. Churchill is still in charge in Britannia in the side novel. I don't recall any other big names being mentioned though.

First, it's "epitome". Agreed that their role seems to be metaphorical, though.

Secondly, if you were to combine every despot of WW2 into a Neuroi...I think you'd just get something that's not physically very dangerous, and in fact quite easy to shoot down.

You have to realize that their power was mainly gained through the barrel of a gun and a quickdraw mouth rather than natural danmaku ability, so yeah, their political whatever =/= beamspam power (or whatever we're having the Neuroi shoot anyway.)

Anyway, lastly, you've got the formula the wrong way around, Kha: you need brains of steel and balls of Khrack instead. That way, you make no sense, but produce enough Testarossa-rosterone to basically get everyone lol-ing like lols are free.

History and Personality:
The oldest member of the squadron and the current commanding officer now nearing retirement Clare has been engaged in combat nearly since the beginning of the war and is by this point a well seasoned and able leader. As is the case with many of her peers her style of command is fairly laid back as the small size and close knit nature of the unit do not demand much in the way of authoritarianism or bureaucracy to run.

She was born in Australia a territory of the Britanniaian Empire Clare was the only daughter (3 brothers all younger) born to her mother who was also a witch as such she was raised from a young age with magic and learned to use it early. Due to this she was among the first girls from her country recruited for the war effort amd she was first deployed to India before moving onto the Middle East, Africa, and then Corsica. Several current members of the squadron were with her during much of this period and when they and several new members were finally formed into a full fledged joint unit she was given a promotion and command.

While no slouch in the air herself she’s largely content to leave much of the fighting to her subordinates (mainly led by Thomasina) while she attends to the day to day running of the squadron. She also often favors simply observing and listening to actively engaging with other members and this can sometimes lead to her appearing a tad aloof, but she knows everything that’s going on and will intervene when needed.

Ok, that was random. As I'm so productive at my studies, I've been skimming through the thread from time to time, as this seems to be the second coming of OC, spearheaded by no less than our glorious leaders, when I come across Tk porting us into the universe.

Can't say that I'm to annoyed at that though, not too bad a character background and such.

Tk, could I get a pm from you every now and then with links to anything that my alter ego is involved with. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Who knows, if I get enough of a feel of the universe, you may just hook me in as well.

A thrill-seeker, Michael would always find ways to challenge convention whenever possible. It was because of this he is usually tasked with performing low-level bombing. Especially with the F-4D Phantom II he was assigned to, an aircraft that is just as impressive in terms of performance, as being hopeless and gunless fighters against either Neurois or fast-maneuvering all-gun enemy fighters.

However, beyond performing his duties as a pilot, he is just a typical bloke that tried to live to the end of every other day. Michael realized that he might end up being dead, or becomes a prisoner of war like his fellow pilots, on the course of the next mission, and tries his best to avoid that from happening.

“Runner” is the nickname his squadron-mates gave him, for the fact that he uses speed as his main weapon, and likes to bring dogfights into vertical battles.

Background:

Michael was one of the many pilots sent to the Indochina region in the beginning of the “Intervention War” into the region for “containment”, before it turned out that nations in the region are fighting an increasingly losing battle against the Neuroi invasion. The invasion from the Neurois opened a huge defensive hole at a region everyone least expected for the Neurois (which have not been taking much action in the recent years, especially after early 1950s) to appear, since the last war mankind have with Neurois have always been concentrated on Europe.

He was posted to Siam on behalf of the 335th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Chiefs", based in south of Korea, into the 435th Tactical Fighter Squadron in 1972, flying an F-4D Phantom II (his previous aircraft is an F-105D Thunderchief (a.k.a. “Thud”) fighter-bomber) with a Weapon Systems Officer (WSO), 2nd Lt. Daniel “Pinpoint” Walker. The Phantom II, or the "Phabulous Phantom" as it was known, is the primary fighter for Liberion’s military service branches that employed fighter aircraft in combat. The aircraft is one belonging in a new generation of multi-role combat aircraft, designed to take on any task given, from air combat to various forms of bombing. The 435th TFS is one of the many active fighter squadrons operating from within the region to strike targets, based at the Ubon RSAFB in Siam.

Michael is assigned to carry out bomb runs with the rest of the squadron, something he carried from the days when he was a Thud driver. This usually exposed him to Neuroi fighters, some possessing more maneuverability than the F-4D. For that reason, Witches are deployed to provide cover for the fighters. However, some enemy pilots that do not realize what is happening to their nations (not everyone in Vietnam realizes what is happening to their country) are another source of trouble.

Combat information:

Michael’s stead, an F-4D Phantom II, is a two-seat, third-generation jet fighter, designed to take on a wide variety of missions. It was so versatile to the extent that most of the Liberion military service branches (except the Army) adopted the F-4 in one form or another, although most variants does not have an internal gun (except the gunned F-4E variant and its derivatives), which proved to be a problem. Missiles aren’t as effective as expected, often sending the pilots of these aircrafts into trouble when going against enemy formations. SUU-23/A gun pods (mounting a M61A1 Vulcan 20mm Gatling-style cannon inside) are often carried to overcome this deficiency, but results have proven to be unsatisfactory. Michael has no qualms about using the gun pod, since his policy is that “A bad gun is better than no gun”, although he often got into trouble with his co-pilot, Daniel, because of his insistence on having the gun pod in place of more bombs (a single SUU-23/A gun pod mounted on the centerline pylon of an F-4D takes the place of six Snake Eye bombs).

In combat, Michael would often throw dogfighting against enemies into a vertical battle, taking advantage of F-4D’s powerful thrust (the F-4 was called "the triumph of thrust over aerodynamics," due to its performance in spite of its bulk). He would usually ask Daniel to keep an eye on the enemies, especially those working in pairs, to at least cover for his concentration. Limitations of the F-4D would still apply though, since it is not an aircraft designed for dogfighting. He often faced problems with rapidly-turning enemies; although this was something he has regularly experienced since his days as a Thud driver, so he was more or less prepared for it. Having Witches around meant that his job is easier, although he could still teach the young ladies a trick or two in balancing it out in combat.

I’d have asked, but you weren’t really around when I started it and you don’t come on IRC so… Honestly I was kinda looking for someone neutral and not overly crazy to put in charge and I found when I started considering posters in the OC that was a disturbingly short list. You always struck me as a pretty level headed, but not boring guy and I wanted to base the leader on a famous Australian ace so…

But yeah that would be no problem, but now I need to go back to cramming for my test this Tuesday...

So far the Neuroi haven't shown a 'face' yet. I'd rather we not dig into a possible leader, especially when we don't even know if Neuroi even have a leader, especially not some evil über Neuroi.

Edit: On another note, expect a Rebuilt of Keroko coming up soon, reason being that I never really had taken into the account the possibility of me making twelve OC's, so I felt the need to make her loud and boisterous, instead of the initial anti-social nature I had planned for her. Now that I'm making a full squadron, her personality can be tweaked back to the way I initially thought it out. Also, expect a new design approaching. Or rather, a design I never bothered to use for the Nanohaverse Keroko.

Agreed, its possible they have a tyranid-level Hive Mind, though I would rather go for Necron-level Hive Mind. Neuroi don't seem to revert back to primitive behavior when separated, and have shown to be perfectly capable of fighting alone without the need of a command unit close by.

That's a big piece of info!

And it makes sense.
While Karlsland was pretty beaten up by the Neuroi, the Emperor never had to abdicate. Thus Karlsland never became a democracy and Hitler never had the chance of seizing power.
So Karlsland never had a Nazi dictatorship.

Strangely they use 3. Reich terms and designs for thier army branches, but I think that's just for the lulz. (And the japanese fandom of 3. Reich stuff.)
