This is the first time I ever actually WANTED to import a visual novel.

I still have one lingering doubt that's preventing me from insta-buy though, and that's the fact I won't understand it.

PS3 is reigon-free so that's even better. (Ha, take THAT 360 owners.~)

Gah. Such dilemma. x_x

also giving this game to ps3 only while it seems they are not biased towards xbox and the vast majority of visual novels ends up on it ? FFFFUUU me cannot comprehend...
will it even be possible to hack ps3 version to get all those pretty things? i want to play with those awesome sprites and bgm's and voices....
ill buy it anyway just to ensure they make the episodes 5-7 remake also (and i mean soon) but still ;_;

The internet hacked the Alchemist sprites to patch it with Manga gamer translation of Higurashi. So I'm sure someone will get around to it.

It's no easy feat in this case, if those things are in an HD widescreen format. Things are also clearly scripted differently (more than two or three characters appearing on screen at once). Granted, I guess you could do a swap, but you'd still need to drastically alter the resolution. I could see it working out, but I wouldn't wanna be the one trying to do it.

In bits like with the stakes in episode 3

But I think Renall's talking about stuff like this scene for example. The script is clearly different for some scenes on the PS3. Since it puts more of the regular characters together in clumps. I speculate that they did that to shorten production time.

PS3 is reigon-free though. So you can play a game from anywhere in the world on a North American PS3.

I love Ryukishi's art, but I think the new art is great too. Might not scare people away from reading when I try to convince them that Umineko is the most awesome shit ever made.

Well I only have problems with some of the sprites. The problem I think people have with the Alchemist art isn't that it's bad. It's that they try to make it look so good that comes off as plastic/mechanical.

And in comparison with Higurashi it's not really as necessary even to people who aren't hardcore classic art onlyists (me being one of them because I think anyone who can't handle the original Higurashi sprites is a wuss). The Umineko sprites have always been awesome. Especially with the troll face expressions, which are very hard to adapt outside of Ryukishi's art style with most mediums.

The new art is good. I don't really [always] hate it. I just wouldn't prefer it.
