Liked the OP/ED, checked out the RAW and this is probably the best animated episode by ZEXCS I've seen, which isn't really saying much. Apart from the Sion stuff it was a changed version of manga chapter 1 pretty much.

stuopidget is the next chapter the proper start of the novels? If so it seems the manga and anime wanted to start with something else before going to the real start.. not sure if the manga even does that yet since only 1 chapter is t/l.

Well, if you're in the US you won't need to worry about subs since Funimation grabbed the title for simulcasting (and I think they're premiring their simulcasts on the 6th). Article here but it doesn't say much else about the simulcasts (they'll probably put more info on their blog after the con is over).

The manga being scanlated by SCX (damn you Hime, come back and finish your stupid project!!) is the side story. There's another manga (that's not even in MU's database, or at least I didn't see it) by Chouzou Hiroko that is still ongoing is the normal storyline (as stated by NeoSam's first post of this topic). Next chapter LOOKS like the start of the novel, yes.

This sounds so fake. You have a source? Japans population is around 127,704,000. So you're telling me 1/4 of Japan owns this thing?! Oh please =P

[edit]

I do believe there's a manga for this series as well.

I saw it at wikipedia. Can't guarantee the authenticity though.

Well if it's 38,000,000 copies sold over 24 volumes it's a lot less then 1/4 of Japan owning it.

I thought even the best ones go for only around 150,000 per year.

I see no support (provided there) to back up the claim in the article.

I went to the japanese wiki of that page using google translate and it said the number of novels sold were 380,000,000! I suspect the wiki editor knew that was impossible and assume it musta been a mistranslation and it actually meant 38,000,000 which is a kind of a reasonable number. After all, this novel has been around since 2002.

Your number of around 150.000 was right.

I looked it up myself on the wiki page.

From the wiki page ("シリーズ累計380万部を突破した")

万 = 10.000

380 * 10.000 = 3.800.000

So it was 3.800.000 and not 38.000.000.

3,800,000 / 24 volumes puts it around 150.000 ~160.000 per volume.

(But my Japanese reading skills are not the best so might be wrong about it)

Guin Saga who's been around since 1979 sold only 26 million and is considered one of the best selling books of all time.

Whats the source for that number on the japanese wiki? If it was just written there with no reference its just complete editor bias.
Unfortunately wikis get their fair share of trolls too.

3.8 million copies. That's weird. The Chrome Shelled Regios novels have been out since 2007 yet have sold over 4.5 million copies, much higher than Legendary Heroes which came out since 2002.

I really doubt that Regios figure...

Weekly Light Novel Ranking for Apr 26 - May 2
*5, 11,627 *58,235 Chrome Shelled Regios vol.15

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topici...10&show=0#post

It wasn't on the top ten the week after... It sells about 40-46 thousand opening since the anime, use to do like 15-20k prior to the anime IIRC.

So no way it has sold 4.5 million copies period.

Your are correct there is no ideogram to symbolize million. In the notion of million doesn't exist at all. 1 million = 100 万 = 100 x 10K.

Well, I would hardly call that simulcast if it's a week later =_=
