Chapter 50

Vatican Knights

I waited until it was something like 01:00 AM to go out of the quartels, Hoded with a cap and with my weapons in had, I toke direction to the port, I knew what will happend if someone discovered me, but I didn't care, I won't gonna take the risk to lose another friend

It toke me like 15 minutes to reach the port, the wind was wet and cold, I found the strainer that Alastor mentionet, I opened it and started to climb down using the wall stairs, the smell was horrible, when I reached the base, the green water reached my thighs, I started to walk amoung the dark sewer uyntil I heared his voice

"Vivio? Is that you?" The voice was the one of an ld man, grave and strong

"Yes... uh... Alstor Wilson?" I asked, although I could heared him very well, I couldn't see him

"Yes, Is good to have you here.... so.... you have founded the Keys of lust and greed, Right?"

"Yes, we have them in the quartels... were... were are you? I can't see you..."

"We must hurry, Nanoha is is preparing the Arm of Punishment, the only thing she needs to activate it are the two keys you have and Victim 20"

"What? Alastor, please tell me, What is this Arm of Punishment? And what do you mean by victim20? Nanoha had alredy reached the... trhe number of 48 Victims" In that moment I remembered that Helga was Victim 48

"The Arm of Punishment is an ancient artifact builded by Augustus Bartolomeo when he was possesed byu the Devil, the machine has the power to destroy all life in this world, Nanoha things that this world is corrupted and she wants to clean it and start a new one"

"... a... and what about Victim 20?"

"In order to activate the machine, Nanoha must first ofer as sacrifice 20 souls, as you probably had known, Nanoha killed 19 peoples when she was alive, but the one who was programed to be... survived, Victim 20 is still alive" This revelation shocked me

"Who is he? Were can wefind him and... and were is this Arm of Punishment?"

"The Arm of Punishment is hidden in an unknow level of Hell, the entrance to it is in the new world"

"New World? You mean...?"

"Yes Vivio... America, the entrance to the Arm of Punishment's hidde out is in Arizona, in the border with Mexico, Nanoha must be alredy there, probably she is waiting the traitor on your files to bring her the keys" This was quite a revelation. America, the new world, Nanoha was there preparing her machine to destroy all life on the world... but there was something that still missing

"Do you know who is Victim 20?"

"Yes, I know, but before I'll tell you, I must know something... You see, Nanoha is sertanly an idiot, she thinks she has the right hand to lead a new world... bha! A stupid girl who was violated for 10 years since she was a kid, she is not the right one to lead a new era... but we are the ones"

"What do you mean?"

"Vivio, If I contacted you, it's because I think that you have the right hand to lead a new era, we can make it Vivio, you and me, this world is truly corrupted, it has no hope, a new one must be started... and you and me, we can lead it and make it a golden era, we will live as Gods, we will make it the Happyest place to live, without lies, without evil persons" In that moment I knew the true intentions of Alastor

"You... you are like her... Are you going to kill thousands of peoples just because you think that this world is bad? That's not true... this world isn't that bad, there are beautifull things on it to live, charming and nice persons, persons that with only some words my heal a broken heart"

"...What do you mean?"

"I mean that... that I don't want to be part of your 'plan' I'm going to stop Nanoha, and if you wish to follow with your intentions, I will also stop you!"

"Are you betraying me, Vivio?"

"Think what you want, I'm done with you"

I turned my back and walked in direction to the stairs when suddenly, an enormus figure falled in front of me, when I raised my head I saw an enormus Slave, very similar to a Gargyole, with tail, claws, wings and a skelleton face

Ths slave opened his mouth and from it came out his long toung, but what shocked me was that in the top of the toung there was a human head! An old man's face looking at me with anger, it was Alastor Wilson WHO TOLD ME

"If you don't want to join me THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO DIE!!!"

*huff puff* I made it! I've spent the last four-ish hours locating and reading Vampire!Fate on this thread, because I didn't want to wait for the FF.net one to update. And it was so, so worth it. XD

Lesse, comments on past pages...

'I've read some AU fics where the characters tend to be OOC.. *coughMaiHiMEsectioncough*' <--- That, hah...ahaha...sorry? ^^''

Twilight <--- should have had hot vampire lovin'. Or something. And I read the series anyway...

Fatenum <--- supported by me, oh yes. X3 Still, NanoFate ftw.

'Rings and Things' was amazing and should have a horde of banner-wavers surrounding it. Also, it made me de-lurk. Well...it was on the top of the de-lurking-reasons totem poll.

That AU with Fate's father (forgot the title...so many pages back...XD;; ) was great, and really needs to be updated.

That aside, I'd have voted B but Fate won already. Woo Fate. I think she's becoming more like the Fate we all know and love, when we can see those glimpses of what's under the (very sexy) flirting. And tho' I can't say I'm a fan of spanking, Nanoha dominating is...ah...is very- it- yes.

Half-baked Theory Time~! Nanoha's dying, but Fate will turn her and cause the Paladins to try to kill her, which will spawn a conflict of honour and duty when Hayate realises neither of the vampires deserve to be hunted down. So she and the others abandon their posts and wage a war against the remaining Paladins, an epic battle ensues, and Fate gets to cast smouldering glances right and left. (that outfit...those fangs...mmmm...)

(never gonna happen ftw~!)

Anyway, here't goes...

“Sire, there is no time.” A man dressed in servants’ clothing was shaking. He looked as though he was controlling himself from running away.

Adrian Testarossa-- the man that had been addressed-- was standing on the large balcony staring down at the city below. He did not seem to acknowledge the servant’s words and clutched at the railing more tightly with his hands. He was clothed in a black tunic covered by silver-plated armour and a black cloak fringed with gold. His hair was a light blonde, but seemed stained with the orange glow of the fires roaring beneath him.

“Sire--”

Another servant ran into the room. “Emperor Testarossa! The fires have spread to the inner palace walls; we cannot douse the flames!”

Soon after the second servant entered, a third man joined them. He was wearing light metal armor overtop of a brown tunic and carried a bloodied sword in his hand. “Sire, the defense mages and forward guards are being overtaken. We cannot hold the palace much longer. What are your orders?”

“The third and fourth battalions—what is their status?”

“Sire, much of third battalion has turned traitorous and has joined with the second battalion. The fourth battalion and a handful of loyal soldiers from the third and second are bravely trying to hold them off. The first has been annihilated.”

“Our northern campaign finished two weeks ago, so what of the other legions?”

“We have sent many messengers in hope that at least one will get through to them. But the legions are still too far from the capital to return in time, my lord.”

Adrian closed his eyes and let his hands drop to his sides. “Where is my family?”

The soldier dropped his gaze and swallowed thickly. “I am not sure sire.”

One of the servants stepped forward, his body shaking with fear. “The Empress and your daughter were in the courtyard before the attack began, my lord.”

“The younger or elder?” The emperor asked in a dangerously calm voice.

The servant swallowed. “The younger twin, the heiress, sire: Alicia. I do not know of the whereabouts of Fate.”

The Emperor finally turned to face the three men, the golden crown on top of his head reflecting the light from below. He walked back into the room and motioned at the first servant. “My sword, if you will.” The servant scrambled forwards and bowed his head while holding out a diamond shaped, green crystal. “Arf, Zafira,” he called out into the room. Two large wolves landed on the balcony behind him almost instantly.

The blue wolf opened his muzzle to speak. “Your orders, emperor?” The two wolves entered the room.

“Arf, please locate Precia; Alicia should be with her. Get them somewhere safe-- out of the city if need be,” commanded the emperor. A strangled cry came from the corridor, and soon the room was flooded with black-armored soldiers and mages.

The solider stood defensively in front of his leader. The two servants were shaking badly, but didn’t budge.

Arf bared her teeth and growled at the rebels as soon as they entered.

“Arf, go. Now.”

“But, Adrian,” protested Arf, her orange fur bristling.

The men quickly disposed of the servants while the rest proceeded to circle around him. A quick survey of the room allowed Adrian to guess there were around twenty men. “Go,” he shouted at Arf. He then turned to Zafira. “Zafira, protect Fate. Do whatever you can to get her to safety.”

Zafira nodded. “We must do as he says,” he said to Arf and obediently turned to leave. Arf hesitantly followed him. The two wolves looked back at Adrian and then at each other before they jumped off of the balcony in opposite directions.

“Adrian Testarossa, Emperor of the land governed by Raijin,” shouted out one of the rebel soldiers. “We shall not allow your tyranny to continue any longer.”

Adrian smirked and laughed. “Tyranny? Hardly.” He took a determined step forward, his red eyes hardened and cold. “You and your men are quite courageous to be standing before me-- threatening me! Do you not fear Lightening’s True Form? Perhaps you simply do not know of such a legend.”

The man glared at Adrian. “You are not the true leader the prophecy spoke of and do not hold lightning’s true form.”

Adrian chuckled darkly. His smirk disappeared and was replaced with his own glare, an expression so dark a few of the men opposing him took a step back. He tightened his grip on the emerald crystal in his hand. “Let us test this theory of yours then, shall we?”

[Activation: Set up-- Thunder Blade]

The crystal in Adrian’s hand grew into a sword.

His red eyes flashed. “Come on then. Thunraiz!”

[Yes, sire.]

The men surrounding him rushed in. Adrian swiftly cut down the first three men that were unfortunate enough to be in the front. He slammed this hilt of his sword into an attacker coming from behind and threw up a large barrier to his other flank with his free hand.

More men rushed into the room, pushing forward to attack him. Within moments, the room was engulfed in a golden light and a thunderous roar echoed throughout the night sky.

Aha, well, if I wrote it properly, you should all be a little confused as to what is going on. Hopefuly not because my writing is so horrible no one could understand it.

Bwah. I like writing in 1st person the most, so I apologize if this is bad. I don't often write in 3rd... 95% of my writer's craft assignments were 1st person. Ehehe.

The first chapter will center around Nanoha. Fate will be there though, you'll just have to spot her. ...Seriously though, it will be kind of obvious...

We'll see when I actually write the first chapter though. T.T Hopefully posting this will make me more committed to it.

I was a little annoyed that Nanoha refused to talk to me about what was bothering her in the car, and even more so when she simply waved when I dropped her off at college. I didn't mind taking Caro home, as I still had Nanoha's spare key, but the least she could do would be to explain her situation to me.

I treated Caro and Erio to a kid's meal at the local (insert popular fast food chain here) and put my cheek against my palm while thinking as they ate. I couldn't tell at first, but in the back of my mind I knew that Nanoha wasn't perfectly healthy. When I discovered her cabinet full of medicine I began to worry, but now I was really concerned. After all these years of being lonely, why did I have to fall for a human who was sick? Life just wasn't fair.

After our meal I made due on my promise to Erio and bought the kids and myself ice cream to snack on before finally taking the pink haired one home. She politely asked if I would like to visit a while and my boy quickly took her up on the offer. Although I didn't mind, I felt a little weird when she started baking. An hour later the front door was opened and the smell of several baked goods wafted around, drawing in customers.

Acting on impulse, I started catering to them, taking request and ringing up the sales. Caro seemed to know a lot despite being so young and even Erio started helping out, much to my delight. It seemed as if he had a crush on the short little thing. Not that I blame him, she just screamed 'cute' with that floppy hat of hers.

After almost three hours I finally got a text message from Nanoha saying she was coming back. I called quickly to tell her to wait for me to pick her up but she was already at the bus stop. With a sigh I reluctantly agreed to stay put and continued to watch the store. Not surprisingly, almost everything that Nanoha pre-made was almost sold out and Caro's own rolls and buns were starting to take the shelves as well.

Of course I snatched a cinnamon roll as payment for working.

When Nanoha arrived she gave me a surprised look at the apron I was wearing and glanced around the shop happily at the few customers. She prolonged our conversation further by making small talk with each of them and finding out that I already took the one special request that Caro was currently working on.

Finally she stood in front of me and smiled shyly, rubbing her hands together. "So," She spoke softly. "how was your day?"

"Go tell Caro you're back," I stated in a commanding but still requesting way. "And them come to me so we can talk... okay sweetie?" She sighed and looked down. "If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to," I offered to her gently. "But I'm going to worry over lots of different things until I find out on my own."

"Figures..." She walked by me and into the back room, leaving me to tend to the customers once again. They left soon enough and Nanoha returned to me, taking my hand and leading me back to the kitchen and up the stairs. "Caro can watch the store by herself for a few moments, she's been doing it since she could walk."

"Okay," I sat on her couch and, to my surprise, she sat right next to me so our sides were touching. I guess she wanted to be close to me but not have to look me in the eyes. "So," I encouraged her gently. "Just tell me straight up, be blunt and it will be over with really fast?"

"Right." She nodded. "I have Systemic lupus erythematosus."

"...What?" A disease I didn't know about? I really was behind on my studies...

"It's... a little hard to explain." Nanoha rubbed her hands together. "Um... Do you want me to get technical?"

"I'd understand it, but right now just please tell me what it is?"

Nanoha looked at her lap and smiled lightly when I reached over to take her hand. "I guess you could sum it up with 'a little bit of everything'. I have joint pain sometimes... rashes sometimes get on my skin... get sick... a little anemic... it... kind of affects my insides too.... as you saw today."

"Is it really bad?"

"Painful." She admitted softly. "Sometimes... it hurts really bad." She turned to look at me and I saw a little bit of fear in her eyes mixed with a lot of courage. "It can't be cured but... the survival rate has gone up dramatically lately. There's a ninety percent chance that I won't die from it. My body sometimes gives me trouble.. Like some days I can't seem to move properly, other times I just get so weak I can barely get out of bed. I have missed a lot of school but since I study non-stop my grades were never affected. It comes and it goes but they can't make it stay away."

"You'll just... keep getting the symptoms?"

"Mm..." She looked away again. "I take medicine for it, but even that is bad sometimes. there's another side-effect of it from taking too much. My body is fighting it, but its... not doing a good job. It over compensates, like... it's killing me trying to save me."

I felt my chest tighten. "What... if you could be cured?"

"To ease this pain?" She asked softly, eyes closed. "Anything."

I moved over to hug her and got one back. Gently my hand stroked down through her hair while I thought. My blood... could cure her. If it was treatable by pills... if the survival rate was that high... if it didn't have to be removed from her body... but...

I would have to turn her.
