Been awhile since I've posted on this thread. So from now until the end of Evo I'm be uploading great matches from many great P4A players showing off their best abilities. I hope that people have a strong interest in this game since it's still being slept on and with a new GG on the horizon. None the less I hope to share great awesome videos just to hopefully keep the thread and game interest alive.

With that being said.

Ahem:

Here's a video from UFGT9 P4A Grandfinals - BananaKen (Shadow Labrys) vs Lord Knight (Mitsuru) a couple of days ago.

I have to say the final game, get hype! Great match from both players.

Just saw the tier list.

Seems Kanji drop from A to B? Less people using him now?

It's not a issue of people of using him. It's just that we're at the phase of the game where people are dividing and dissecting the best and worst, and the match-ups that change along with it. Kanji from what I've heard had always been B or bottom tier. but can win match-ups if you make the correct reads. He has very few even and one good match-up and that's it, while the rest of the cast can give him trouble most of the time.

I read that right now in Japan that the current best characters are Chie and Narukami, right now. Tied for first.

LK panicked when BananaKen activated SLab's IK. But yeah, that was awesome
what a way to end the tourney

That was hype because SLab is the only character in the game that can combo into her IK. There are a few ways to do it, but BananaKen just chose to style.

SLab is definitely climbing the up the tier list, and you can see a lot of her online these days.

much like Liz, she's Persona reliant, gimicky and thin as paper (Liz is thinner though)
the amount of + frames Asterios gives SLab on block is ridiculous. Not to mention those crazy cross-ups and mix-ups. It's no wonder she'd get a higher tier

oh and btw, IIRC
Mitsuru's still High Tier along with Chie and Yu
I forgot, do you have the updated tier list?

Carl Clover's a puppeteer character and has better cross-up options but he's just mid-tier on CP

not everyone gets tricked by gimmicks lol

Carl has been fairly high tier in almost every version of blazblue except for CP, because most of his changes nerfed the properties of many of his moves.

Also Carl is probably harder to play than S.Labrys

That's right, and her unblockable set-ups makes her a threat when she knocks you down. I truly hate that command grab set-up when she knocks you down. You can get out of it, but timing and when to do it is the issue. I forgot that Elizabeth can combo into her IK, but it takes a lot of window and time for it to activate.

Oh yes, a youtuber by the name of BanchouJP has stated that many top players (either Japan, America, or both) claim that Narukami and Chie are the best characters in the game currently.

Here's the current tier list I believe...:

S - Narukami, Chie
A - Mitsuru, Aigis, Teddie, Shadow Labrys, Yosuke
B - Akihiko, Yukiko, Naoto, Kanji, Elizabeth, Labrys

SLab is easier than Carl because in terms of "puppet" positioning her options are better, but more risky because if she can't play offense and defense effectively, she could get her Persona broken easily. In terms of sets up and risk taking Carl's options are better because Nirvana can take more of a beating compared to SLab Persona.

Aside from BananaKen being a great player, no one exactly knows the Shabby Match-up.
Past tourneys have shown that lack of matchup experience, due to the character being underplayed, can be fatal even at high-level play.

If I know the general fighting game community well enough, many people are going to play her now just because she won a tournament

not entirely the case but I guess it affects a bit
I'm not so sure about this but Yukiko is just as underplayed
there are only a few good ones out there. But I haven't sen a Yukiko player get as far as a semi-final

reminds me of the time She-Hulk suddenly got popular because of J.Wong and then Spencer as well because of Combofiend's match against Marn

It's been awhile since I've been on here due to lack of info. Now that I'm able to be on AS frequently again, here are the list of Japanese finest coming to attend Persona 4 Arena at Evo next week.

JP players entering P4A so far:

Tokido
Kazunoko
Dogura
Iori
ABEGEN
Haatenxia
Tomo
DIE Chan
Stunedge
Mui
Hatia
Aru

Please note that some of the players I'm familiar with, but the others not so much. It's still strange that Kirisame, Shouji, Shuuto, Damous, Kubo, Moko, Denpa, or one of the 4 Narukami gods not being listed. I don't know if they're coming down, but I hope they'll attend.

I'm finally able to do to the fact I just got home from work. Right now, Kazunoko and Fubarduck are playing right now. Might have missed a bit of stuff, but I'll check the archives laters

Oh yes, here's the Evo 2013 stream just in case anyone is interested!

Stream has a bit of audio lag but it could probably be just me.

you didn't missed much
too many Aigis a while ago

Stunedge had an awesome comeback a while ago. There was also USA top Aigis player getting bodied by Yume.

Stream's audio is laggy at times on my end too. I guess it's the stream's fault

That's good but wanted to see Stoneedge in action because his Yukiko is godlike. Yume I wanted to see, too, oh well I'll watch the archives later. The previous match with BrkrDave vs Tomo was truly well played. Teddie is so S tier - The tiers definitely need to be adjusted.

I hope during break they fix the stream because the content is amazing, but needs to be in sync.
