True heroine as the girl the MC will get with or as the nation put a fake hero against the demon army and that is why they were losing and this girl was the real one?

The MC being a pro at his job but needing support in fights is a nice change, after all most novels and isekai now have the MC being a master of all trades and arming their harem so that they don't feel useless.

I'm guessing the enemies will be some demons seeking revenge on the true slayer or the demon lord army stilll being active because their boss wasn't defeated from the right person, or the goverment wanting to silence anyone that knows the truth so that the money reward will continue, or even the fail hero fearing the truth spreading and their name being dragged into the mud.
Or other members of the support organization that want to be recognized and blow the whistle and the MC having to silence them.

A bit cliche as development, MC had to just walk away to enroll as normal student but then got mixed up with the elite, and instead of stating to a teacher that he was in the crowd for a mistake he joined the battle royale and of course got excellent results, he not realizing his half baked effort was better than any other student make no sense as he is not a retard isekai MC that doesn't knwo left from right after being transported in the new world.
He just tried lightly, the teacher though he got scared and instead of just getting out continued, I know, is a novel/manga, not real life, but the MC looked like the type to do the smart move in that situation.
And then he joined with another studen to frikin defeat the the top examinator instead of trying to lose with style, and destroyed a hard magic sword with pinpoint shots using a crap staff.
The old cliche...was expecting it to deviate from it.
