Over a third of those series had only one vote for them (1 of which is completely ineligible). And anyway at most the main tournament will have 50 series represented.
Worst case (or best case) scenario there will only be 117 series represented in preliminaries as well.* *If you consider Railgun/Index one series. I've only watched 36 of those series though.

Gokou Ruri, if AS's forums are any example of which is better liked it will be her. Kiriya Nozomi Not really sure haven't seen it, but I'll say Lala Satalin Deviluke though. Togame, Nino really doesn't have much moe appeal Tachibana Kanade, even if I don't like her I am pretty sure she'd get more votes Kaname Madoka, cute vs mysterious tough to say, but I think Madoka would get more.

6 of my nominations got in.
Sherlock was 52 off and Kanata was 32 off while Hiiragi didn't even rate which is bad news for Yamamoto-sensei's chances. Also the new cut off point is just over 60 votes higher. And the highest ranking girls got over double what the highest girl last year did. Anyway Fairy Tail did far better than I could have hoped with not only Lucy but Erza also taking a place and Wendy rating at 121. Much better than no one placing like last year. Anyway my preliminary girl total turns out at 42 (19 Auto - 23 Prelim) girls over 17 series. Spoiler for List:

8 of my 12 make it through nominations, with 2 others making the not quite enough votes list. Only Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury don't appear, and those were a risk to begin with.
I laugh at the 80th or so position possible for Hideyoshi by vote count. Aside that Hideyoshi is Hideyoshi, rather than female. Going by the 3 major factons of last year (studios) Maximum number of KyoAni girls is 19. (Air x 1, Haruhi x 3, Lucky Star x3, CLANNAD x 6, and K-ON! x 6) However all are subject to being knocked out in the Preliminaries this year. Maximum number of J.C.Staff girls is 25. (Yumekui Merry x 1, Louise "Zero" x 1, Maid Sama x 1, Ōkami-san x 1, Shana x 2, Toradora x 3, Hayate x 7, Index/Railgun x 9) Maximum number of girls from Studio DEEN is 16, (Dragon Crisis x 1, Nura x 1, Hell Girl x 1, Fate/Stay Night x 3, Higurashi x 3, Is this a Zombie? x 3, Seitokai no Ichizon x 4) We will have to see if the other studios can place their old and new favorates again these three groups. AIC is already on the way there.

All I can say is nominations are one thing, prelims are another, regular season is a whole new game and SE is light years away. Last year, a great deal of characters who polled well got slaghtered in prelims. However, it does pose a few notable contenders. But as expected, Kuroneko and Kirino topped the list of those who hadn't yet qualified but now have. Along with Kanade from Angel Beats, I suspect Triple K to be the main threat of the new crop.
From reading the rule changes, I take it it's still a 50 participant regular season while postseason is now Single Elimination?

Next year we should do something like try an organize the nomination of an older anime character that is only left out because of the recent nature of the contest.
If everyone was willing to give up one or two slots we could push one or two older characters to the prelims every year, allowing us to see if any of the older characters can develop a following.

It might be an interesting idea. I've been nominating mostly current characters or a series within a span of 1 or 2 years. How old would the series have to be if this suggestion were to work?
If early/mid 2000's, I could think of a number of choices right away. 1990's, only a handful, but it's still something.

Got 10/12
I'm happy that Victorique, Ika-Musume, Mio and Kirino did such a good job It looks like Kirino and Kuroneko are about equally strong. Is a rivalry already starting to bloom between these two? I wonder who will end up higher in the end. I'm voting (hoping) for Kirino. Sad that Ayu didn't manage to get through. It looks like the times of Kanon are over I'm pleasantly surprised that Lucy (from Fairy Tail) managed to get through though. I didn't expect that to be honest

Very sad that none of the Kanon girls got in, especially my Ayu-chan It's hard to believe that they all failed to garner enough moe-consideration with the voters, despite their practically being the standard-bearers for what is "moe".
I guess that even if they did get in they'd be slaughtered by the "latest-and-greatest", many of whom are already doomed to destruction in the early phases as their series inevitably fade from popularity. I suppose that a true moe tournament based solely on qualities of moe as opposed to just popular is impossible after all BUT ANYWAY: Seven out of the 12 girls I nominated got in (Misuzu, Rika, Shinku, Ushio, Ika Musume, Kuroneko, and Nessa). Four didn't make the cut (Ayu, Makoto, Yuuko, and Matsuri), and 1 didn't even get "honorable mention" (Noe). It is what it is LOL Still, it's shaping up to be an interesting competition. May the Best girl win!!!

Out of my 12 nominations, only 6 made it:
-Ika Musume -Ayuzawa Misaki -Victorica de Blois -Kaname Madoka -Furude Rika -Kinomoto Sakura Who didn't make the cut : -Togame (soooo close! I'm pretty upset about this one) -Kirishiki Sunako (I figured she wouldn't make it in) -Nazuna (again, I'm not too surprised that anyone but Yuno wouldn't make it in) -Mizunashi Akari (VERY upset, but again, not surprised since so many people seem to just overlook this show or find it too slow) -Alice Carroll (") -Isara Gunther (it really doesn't seem like many people have seen Valkyria Chronicles, as no one ever mentions it. Honestly, sad.)
