Not really. We don't know what Noi's rank was in the flashback. He could have been 7 or 8. If the old regime got an upgrade then their numbers could have changed. The noobs could have been assigned their ranks based on if they were stronger or weaker than the original replacements (Sec. Gen.)

how many of the current espada have bitten the dust? so far ive counted noitra 5, grimgow 6, Leroux 7, aporro 8, Aaroniero 9. has yammy yet to be killed?

Grimmjow and Noitora are not confirmed deaths. I think Yammy might still be kicking around too. I kinda hope they may another appearance to be honest

ty, its been a while since i read the noitra battle fully. i wonder who the old buy on the espada team will eventually admit defeat to. he's a cool character like shunsei but he's still an enemy arrancar.

Uh...Nnoitra did die, a split second before he hit the floor after Kenpachi's last strike, and Mayuri stabbed Szayel through the heart. I don't think over-enhanced senses of perception are going to save him from death.

Not exactly, re Noi. We saw him fall, yes, but the fact that he was still thinking/remembering would seem to indicate that he isn't dead yet. Besides, Kubo switched to the new arc to fast for us to know for sure. Right now he and Grimmjow are in the same boat - defeated but not confirmed dead.

It's the whole final thought before death thing. Hell, Nnoitra's last thought certainly stated that he was dead. Or about to die.

I don't think anyone was ranking the espadas (from what I can tell?). We were discussing whether certain espada remain alive or not...

But since it digresses from the original stated purpose of determining NEL's rank, I suppose we shall have to get back on topic...

I really don't see how Ken Gj have absolutely anything to do with Nel or her Espada Ranking . And as much as I like Noitora this isn't a Character Discussion thread w.r.p to Noitora or who is alive who is dead .

So we've got the new ep out now which thanks to Studio Pierrot's little bit of creative license shows Noi with a clear "8" on his tongue during his flashback match up with Nel. Since we already know that Nel was a "3" before her ejection from HM, this brings up some interesting questions in terms of how much the other espada could have possibly grown in her absence. It's apparent that Noi went up by 3 ranks but she already out ranked him previously by 5 positions. So technically she should still be 2 ranks ahead of him should she not?

Was that # 8 in the chapters? I don't remember seeing it. Can we count the anime showing of it if it isn't?

Not really because if we do it in terms of an RPG leveling party lets say this is the lvls when Nel was 3rd

Primero - Lvl 60
Dos - Lvl 55
Tres - Lvl 50
Cuatro - Lvl 45
Cinco - Lvl 40
Sexta - Lvl 35
Siete - Lvl 30
Ocho - Lvl 28
Nueve -Lvl 26
Diez - Lvl 24

But after the years when the current espada are now the levels may be

Primero: Lvl 70
Dos - Lvl 65
Tres - Lvl 60
Cuatro -Lvl 55
Cinco - Lvl 50
Sexta - Lvl 45
Siete - Lvl 40
Ocho - Lvl 38
Nueve - Lvl 36
Diez - Lvl 34

This being said if Nel stayed the same or her power withered then she would either stay at 50 or maybe lvl 48, meaning that Nnoitora who used to be number 8 and is now 5's power would either match or surpass the previous Third Espada due to the power of the Espada growing.

Also Utsu in the manga he had an 8 on his tongue as well

Though I don't remember seeing an 8 on Noi's tongue in the manga. Do you know the chapter?
