Been listening to a lot of Wu-Tang lately. Fans have to check out Raekwon's EP Lost Jewlry. It's not a classic but it's a good appetizer for F.I.L.A. later in the year. "Lead Season" and "New Day" are highlights.

So late, but my man Just Blaze still got it.

It's a pity these soul samples that Just and Kanye brought to the mainstream got run into the ground by the Diplomats + Heatmakers (but still some dope stuff, especially Just blazes "I really mean it"), hiphop was just so much better beatwise back than as opposed to the current eurotrance trend.

Finally gave Little Brother's The Listening a chance the other night and really enjoyed it.

I've always liked 9th Wonder's production but this is the first album I've listened to that he's been a big part of and he's amazing. I paid more attention to Phonte and Pooh's lyrics on the second listen and they were pretty impressive as well.

^Dude, I recced that album to you like two years ago. You should give Phonte's Charity Starts at Home album a whirl.

Anyway, been listening to instrumentals by a dude who calls himself phaseone. Really like him, along with Clams Casino, as producers.

Really? Must have slipped my mind. You definitely turned me on to quite a few rappers three years ago that I now consider among my favorites, so thanks for that.

Love Clams Casino. I'll have to check out phaseone.

On another note, I finally took the plunge and download a Lil' B tape for the first time, Pretty Young Thug and I actually liked it much more than I thought I would. A big part of that is the production but B genuinely made me laugh, and not in a disparaging way. The guy has his moments as an MC. Up until now, the only track of his I liked was "Wonton Soup". Not anymore.

I don't know but I'd say they've been active 10 years ago and just recently got big when Strange Music Label signed them. I'd say you should just check all the rosters in Strange Music Label. They seemed to have signed bunch of new mc's recently.

Listened to King Remembered In Time earlier this morning. Another quality project from Big K.R.I.T.

DOOM fans, make sure to download "GG DOOM! BUT HOW?" by Grip Grands. Remixed DOOM tracks that actually sound pretty authentic.

Been hearing some buzz about this mixtape, so I thought that I should check it out. I'm 10 minutes in, and I can see why it's called Acidrap. :P

I've had Acid Rap on repeat since finally listening to it a couple days ago.

On another note, has anyone listened to Grip Grand's GG DOOM?

I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. I've been dabbling in hip hop/rap for a couple years now, and I'm always looking for artists to try. Definitely taking notes.

Lately I've been listening to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' The Heist, Lauryn Hill, and Dumbfoundead, especially. His latest album, Old Boy Jon, has some of my favorite tracks he's released so far.

I've been listening to lots of boiler room live sets for Rap life. Never heard of this guy before that, but he is pretty good. Love the beat too.

While Nujabes is good, it seriously bothers me how most people's impression of Japanese Hip-Hop is Nujabes. It's like Nujabes is the ONLY person in all of Japan who does Hip-Hop, that's it, there's nobody else.

First of all, Nujabes doesn't even work with Japanese rappers.

Second of all, he's not even the best beat-maker in Japan in my opinion. I mean, there are tons of other talented Japanese producers who makes dope beats that goes completely unrecognized. I mean, why doesn't other anime use songs from other Japanese rappers or producers? Why only Nujabes? I don't understand.

Producers like I-Dea, Lostface, DJ Matsunaga, DJ Whitespace, Bach Logic, DJ Mitsu, DJ Hiroki, DJ Muro, Flip16, Michita, Evisbeats, Himuki are all very talented and they have actually produced entire rap albums, not just a couple of instrumentals here and there. I like their beats a lot more than Nujabes' stuff.

There so much talent out there it's impossible to pick one.

But Himuki is one of my favorite producers, here are some of his beats:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T62LM1G5vCY

And as far as DJ Mastunaga, he has an entire album out and he produced one of the best piano beats I've ever heard:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UGz7ucurCg

I can't stand the fact how they go unrecognized.

There's more just than Nujabes, a lot more
